(SOLD OUT) easyJet launches a £695 advent calendar – and it’s probably worth the money

Whilst my children have been badgering me for a cheap chocolate-filled advent calendar from the supermarket, you may want to splash out on something a little more luxurious for yourself.

easyJet may have the answer. Take a look here.

easyJet has launched what it is calling an ‘Advent(ure) Calendar’. There are 12 drawers, each containing special travel treats.

The project will raise funds for Age UK.

Whilst costing £695, easyJet claims that the contents are worth over £1,500. This is potentially true and you could do even better.

You will receive:

  • four pairs of return flights for two including hold luggage – this could be very valuable as you seem to be getting virtually guaranteed availability
  • £45 to spend on easyJet’s onboard bistro
  • £75 of vouchers to spend on tours and excursions via ‘GetYourGuide’
  • A £50 car rental discount voucher

What is the small print on the flight redemptions?

There are very few restrictions, which makes it easier to get real value from this package. There are only three rules worth noting:

  • flights to Dalaman and Sharm el Sheikh are excluded
  • each pair of tickets cannot have a cash value of more than £750 (which gives you a huge amount of leeway, because even peak season easyJet flights rarely get beyond £375 return per person)
  • you cannot split a pairs of flights – each booking must be for two people who travel together (ie a solo traveller cannot have eight free flights)

The only thing that is not clear is if you can use two vouchers on the same flight for a family of four. This would technically break the rules on the buyer or recipient being a traveller on each voucher, although the buyer is ‘using’ the voucher and would be travelling. It also isn’t clear if pairs of flights could be gifted to different people.

All vouchers must be redeemed between 1st December 2021 and 31st December 2022.

The calendar is on sale now via this link where you can also find full terms and conditions. Quantities are described as ‘limited’ which is not surprising, given that 100% of your payment is going to Age UK.

    27th in queue and 241 minute wait…

  • Mattb says:

Was tempted by this but flights from Bristol to the Canaries are often >£600 PP before baggage at half term so that is a no go.

  • aDifferentSimon says:

can’t even get in the queue!

  • Tom says:

I’ve been in the queue for about 3 – 3.5 hours now. I’m number 2, allegedly. But I’ve been number 2 for about 45 minutes!

    • Zara says:

Maybe the agent has gone for a lunch break late!

      • Tom says:

        She’s back! I’m chatting now.

        • Zara says:

We’ve been 7 for half an hour after being on 9 for an hour before that!

        • Zara says:

I just don’t understand why each customer takes so long. We are still on 7.

          • Tom says:

Ok, I’m done. Hang in there guys if you’re in single digits. I think they have a single agent doing this and I believe she is serving 2 people at a time. Questions she asks are basic but it seems to take her ages to process. I’d say my transaction took a solid 20+ minutes.
I was cheeky and asked her how many calendars are available in total (I did this when payment was processing so I assure you I wasn’t holding the queue up!). The answer was 100. So I think we’re lucky to get them.
            Good luck!

          • Zara says:

Thanks Tom! Let’s hope we manage to get them too and well done on yours.

          • Alex Sm says:

Because each of them asks too many questions!

  • Aston100 says:

    Such great value.
e.g. Antalya is almost never less than £400pp in peak summer school holidays.

    • Zara says:

Yes. We go to Antalya frequently too so that’s what we would like to get it for. Just hoping we manage it to be within the 100

  • Leo says:

Aaand they’re gone. Can’t win them all I guess. Congrats to those faster than me who got lucky!

  • David D says:

Just purchased one now after a 5 hour wait. Thanks for the heads up Rob

  • Andrew says:

Fingers crossed still available, nearly at the front. I wonder if there’s a cutoff when this person goes home for the night?

This bit isn’t worded very clearly. If it was a simple cap of £750 per booking for two people the words “per person” shouldn’t be included: “the total return trip value of two flights per person must not exceed £750”

    • Tom says:

Andrew I queried that exact point. The answer was (quote) “There is no limit for the voucher. So no need to worry”. I’m not entirely sure that’s accurate (!), but I took a screenshot nonetheless.

    • Zara says:

Andrew it is probably you now. Let us know how you get on!
