What are the best hotel promos for February 2022?

As travel begins to restart, we have brought back our regular round-up of the best hotel promotions currently running.

All of the information in this article can also be found on our ‘Hotel Offers’ page which contains details of all of the current offers, together with links to our major articles on each hotel scheme.  However, a positive response from readers – especially our 15,000 email subscribers – means we run this monthly article as a handy summary.

Where should you credit your stays for February 2022?

Remember that, irrespective of the offers below, there is never a single ‘best’ offer.

Some offers require multiple stays to maximise the bonus, which you might not do. Some require stays to be a minimum number of nights before a bonus is earned.

You need to factor in any elite status you have, which will earn you additional status bonuses.

More importantly, you need to be able to use the points. There is no value in earning a large bonus in a scheme where you will never go on to earn enough points to get a free night.

Hilton (Hampton, Conrad, Waldorf-Astoria etc)

You will earn 2,500 bonus Hilton Honors points for every stay between now, once you have registered, and 1st May. 

This promotion clearly works best for short, cheap stays.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, a £50 one-night stay would get you an impressive bonus points which I’d value at £8.33. You would also receive your base points and any elite bonus.

£8.33 of bonus points is less impressive on a week-long stay at a Waldorf-Astoria costing £2,500, of course …..

IHG Rewards (Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo etc)

IHG Rewards is offering double base points this Spring.

Importantly, the bonus points are elite qualifying. This is very rare in a hotel promotion, with bonus points usually separated from status-earning base points.

The offer runs from 1st February to 31st March. Registration is required which you can do here. Existing bookings DO count.

The bonus kicks in from your first stay after registration, which is an improvement on recent IHG promotions which have only started from your second stay.

Basically, this is the total opposite of the Hilton Honors promotion. It pays out very well on longer, more expensive stays but won’t move the needle on a one-night Holiday Inn Express visit.

Let’s assume that an IHG Rewards point is worth 0.4p (which we usually say it is) and that you have Spire Elite status and earn a 100% elite bonus:

• You spend £100 after deducting tax (so £112.50 total cost in the UK)
• …. which is equivalent to $135
• You earn 10 base points per $1 at most brands, x2 as part of this offer, plus a 100% Spire Elite bonus on top
• You therefore receive 30 points per $1
• You receive 4,050 points for your stay ($135 x 30)
• At 0.4p, the points are worth £16.20
• You receive points worth 16% of your ex-VAT spending

Marriott Bonvoy (Renaissance, The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, Westin, W, Aloft, St Regis, Luxury Collection, Moxy etc)

Registration for the current Marriott Bonvoy promotion is now open, although the offer itself does not begin until 8th February.

Between 8th February and 4th May, you will earn 1,000 bonus points per NIGHT on every cash stay. I value a Bonvoy point at 0.5p so this is equivalent to a £5.00 bonus per night.  It is clearly a better deal on cheap one-night stays than expensive week-long holidays.

Perhaps more importantly, you will also receive double elite night credits. Each night you stay counts as two nights towards elite status.

Hyatt (Andaz, Alila, Thompson, Unbound Collection, Miraval etc)

Hyatt is offering a fixed bonus, like Hilton, which works better on shorter stays.

You will receive 2,022 bonus points for every two nights you stay by 20th April. Given our 1.1p valuation of Hyatt points, you’d be getting a return of £11 per night.

Importantly, the nights do not need to be consecutive or at the same hotel.
