How to earn 400 Avios in Spain with the Cabify rideshare app

If you’re heading to Spain soon it is worth remembering that you can earn Avios with the Cabify ride-hailing app.

You will get a 400 Avios bonus with your first ride.

Cabify was founded in Spain but has since expanded internationally – you can now use the app in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay.

Avios can only be earned in Spain, Mexico and Chile.  Oddly, if you choose to credit Avios to Vueling Club, you can only earn in Spain.

Earn Avios with Cabify

In Spain, you can currently use it in:

  • A Coruna
  • Alicante
  • Barcelona
  • Madrid
  • Malaga
  • Murcia
  • Santander
  • Seville
  • Valencia
  • Zaragoza

The app can be downloaded from the Apple and Google stores.  I used it a couple of times in Barcelona pre-Covid and the Avios always posted OK.

Which Avios programmes work with Cabify?

The Cabify app lets you earn Avios in either Iberia Plus or British Airways Executive Club.  Vueling Club is also an option but only for rides in Spain.

In reality, it doesn’t matter which scheme you use as you can move your Avios around via ‘Combine My Avios’.

How many Avios do you earn with Cabify?

You will earn 400 Avios for your first trip and 1 Avios per km after that.

The ‘first ride’ bonus will only be applied if you take a ‘Lite’ or ‘Executive’ vehicle.

Full details can be found on the Cabify website here.  A Q&A, in English, is here which explains how the 400 Avios bonus works.

Can be an issue registering via a uk phone. I had to use web page to create an account using email and then took a few days before could login to the app, may be ok if fill in business details. PS new users of the app may get €3 off first few rides. (In the end didn’t need to use it in Alicante and in Benidorm no cars were available).

As a Londoner originally from Madrid, Cabify is my go to app when I am back home and need to move around the city (Uber is also available and slightly cheaper sometimes but waiting times tend to be longer).

You need to have this app if you are visiting Spain. And for those of you more adventurous, why not download Apps like Free2Move that allow you to rent small electric cars by the minute to drive around town!

  • TJ says:

I used them in Marbella. The points for the trip posted quickly but the 400 bonus points never materialised despite being eligible.
