Get £100 back on £200 of Eastern Airways flights with American Express

American Express has launched a cashback offer which is surprisingly generous – £100 back when you spend £200+ with Eastern Airways by 1st August.

The offer is only open to the first 3,700 users who save it, which is why we are running this as an additional article today. We’d prefer the slots to go to our readers!

In general the airline deliberately ignores London, although it does have the contract to run the subsidised flights between Gatwick and Newquay. There are multiple routes from Southampton – which is an easy train ride from Waterloo directly into the airport – and it has some presence at most regional airports.

Eastern Airways

The airline no longer flies beyond the UK Common Travel Area – the Gibraltar route, for example, has been cancelled. The furthest you can go is to Jersey or Dublin.

For a couple, £200 would cover a return domestic trip in the UK. A solo traveller may struggle to spend £200 on one journey to be honest, although I’m sure a peak Summer trip from Gatwick to Newquay won’t be cheap.

Note that the rules of the offer state that the £200 must be spent in one transaction.

The Eastern fleet comprises British Aerospace Jetstream 41 and ATR72-600 series turboprops, Embraer regional jets and Embraer E-jets. The seat count runs from 29 to 76. Wherever you fly, it will be a different experience to your standard British Airways short haul Airbus flight.

Eastern Airways Jetstream 41

I took an Eastern Airways flight from Aberdeen to Newcastle last year as part of my UK lounge tour. That was on a Jetstream 41 – definitely an adventure (photo above). It felt like I was flying on a model aircraft it was so small. It was also hugely noisy, so I recommend taking ear plugs!

The offer is restricted to the first 3,700 people to save it to their American Express cards – assuming, of course, that you are targeted for it in the first place. You are unlikely to see it on British Airways American Express cards, for obvious reasons.

Your qualifying transaction must be made by 1st August although your flight can be for a later date.

Nothing on my plat, gold, or BA.

HUY-ABZ would have floated my boat.

Good luck finding any flights actually operating and bookable on their Mickey Mouse website

  • sjrk1 says:

It’s on both my Plat charge card and the companion credit card from my old Gold charge card.
Saved to both as I’ve got a couple of trips from Cardiff to Belfast in the summer & autumn, which will certainly take the heat out the price!

  • Kipto says:

The Cardiff to Anglesey route hasn’t been running for over two years

Not yet appeared on my Platinum card nor, unsurprisingly, on my BA premium card
