News in brief:

Get up to 5x Nectar points (= 5x Avios) with office supplies from Viking

There is a special Nectar offer running with office supplies group Viking until 11th September.

You MUST opt in to this offer by clicking the link on this page of the Viking website.

Once registered, you will earn 2x, 3x or even 5x the usual amount of Nectar points, depending on the value of your order:

  • Spend over £50 for 2x points – 4 Nectar points (2.5 Avios) per £1 spend
  • Spend over £100 for 3x points – 6 Nectar points (3.75 Avios) per £1 spend
  • Spend over £300 for 5x points – 10 Nectar points (6.25 Avios) per £1 spend

Points are based on the ex-VAT price of whatever you buy and delivery charges are excluded. Postage stamps are excluded.

There is also a new customer bonus. As you can see here, Viking is offering 1,000 bonus Nectar points with your first purchase of £49 + VAT after you add your Nectar number to your Viking account. This is worth an extra 625 Avios on your order.

As an office supplies group, Viking is an obvious place to pick up your next printer cartridge or similar. It also has a lot of ‘office use but usable domestically’ products, such as coffee capsules and bulk supplies of bottled water.

There are also regular bonus point offers. Take a look here.

Don’t forget to link your Nectar account to your Viking account before ordering. The instructions are here.

Get double Marriott Bonvoy points on ‘Homes & Villas’ rentals

With self catering holidays set for another bumper covid-driven year, Homes & Villas by Marriott International has launched another double points promotion.

The standard Bonvoy earning rate with Homes & Villas is 5 points per $1. This is doubled to 10 points per $1 for all stays booked for dates up to 28th February 2023.

Bookings must be made by 25th August 2022 to qualify. A three night minimum stay is required. Existing bookings do not count.

As a reminder, when you make a Homes & Villas rental, you earn points based on your total spend less booking fees, taxes, cleaning fees and extra add-ons.

Elite members of Marriott Bonvoy will earn a status bonus:

  • Silver Elite: 5 base points per eligible dollar plus 10% bonus
  • Gold Elite: 5 base points per eligible dollar plus 25% bonus
  • Platinum Elite: 5 base points per eligible dollar plus 50% bonus
  • Titanium Elite: 5 base points per eligible dollar plus 75% bonus
  • Ambassador: 5 base points per eligible dollar plus 75% bonus

…. and Gold and above receive additional points as a welcome gift:

  • Ambassador Elite, Titanium Elite, Platinum Elite: 1,000 points
  • Gold Elite: 500 points

Each night you book counts towards elite status with Marriott Bonvoy but, oddly, does not count towards lifetime status.

This offer stacks with £150 of American Express cashback

Even better, this offer will stack with the current American Express cashback deal.

If targeted, you will receive £150 cashback when you spend £500+ on the Homes & Villas website by 30th November. You need to check the ‘Offers’ section of your American Express account to see if you are targeted and click ‘Save to Card’ to register – make sure you use this card when booking.

Marriott has recently reduced the minimum stay from three nights to two nights at the majority of its Homes & Villas properties, albeit a two night stay wouldn’t qualify for the ‘double points’ offer. It has also added a lot of cheaper properties in places you wouldn’t necessarily expect – I found a £63 per night apartment in Bolton for example.

You can find full details of the double points offer on the Homes & Villas by Marriott International website here.

I still have around 10 years’ worth of printer paper from Viking from their last Avios offer. I feel, after a couple of years, I have chipped away the top of the iceberg sitting on the floor of my office :-). Heck, I have even given reams away as unexpected presents but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

  • John Acca says:

The headline “Get up to 5x Nectar points (= 5x Avios)…” is a bit misleading when read straight like that.

You may want to change it up, reflecting the 0.625 conversion rate (Nectar to Avios)

  • George says:

But Viking has been on the BA Executive Club shopping portal Avios e-store for years earning between 5 and 10 Avios per £ spent (currently 7). I have seen it as high as 12 at some point. I wouldn’t have thought they could be stacked though.
