What are the best hotel promos for May 2023?

Welcome to our regular round-up of the best hotel promotions currently running.

All of the information in this article can also be found on our ‘Hotel Offers’ page which contains details of all of the current offers, together with links to our major articles on each hotel scheme.  However, a positive response from readers – especially our 17,000 email subscribers – means we run this monthly article as a handy summary.

Here are quick summaries and links to the registration pages you need for each offer – do it before you forget. (I apologise to email readers if this block is mangled – scroll down to the main text area.)

The current ‘buy points’ offers running at the moment are:

Current American Express cashback offers

It’s also worth noting the current American Express cashback offers with the big chains. These may be showing on one or more of your cards and may influence which hotels you book this month.

• Get £50 cashback on £200 of Hilton spend, expires 31st May

• Get £75 cashback on £300 of IHG spend, expires 9th June

• Get £100 cashback of £300 of Marriott spend, expires 30th June

• Get £75 cashback on £200 of Marriott spend, expires 30th June (exclusive to Marriott Bonvoy American Express cardholders)

Away from the big chains, the ‘best of the rest’ includes:

• Get £150 cashback on £750 of Four Seasons spend, expires 7th July

• Get £100 cashback on £250 of WorldHotels spend, expires 31st July

In all cases, you are restricted to a list of participating European hotels.

Where should you credit your stays for May 2023?

Remember that, irrespective of the offers below, there is never a single ‘best’ offer.

Some offers require multiple stays to maximise the bonus, which you might not do. Some require stays to be a minimum number of nights before a bonus is earned.

You need to factor in any elite status you have, which will earn you additional status bonuses.

More importantly, you need to be able to use the points. There is no value in earning a large bonus in a scheme where you will never go on to earn enough points to get a free night.

There are currently no global offers from:

• IHG One Rewards (but some members get a targetted offer)
• Marriott Bonvoy
• Radisson Rewards

Whilst we discuss the Hyatt offer below, it is now closed for registration.

Hilton (Hampton, Conrad, Waldorf-Astoria etc)

Hilton has just launched a new offer called ‘Resort To More Points’.

You can register here.  Our full article is here. It runs until 5th September.

You will earn 2,000 bonus points on all stays, increased to 4,000 points at selected resorts.

You need to register in advance of your first stay during the period via the Hilton website here.  Existing bookings count and all Hilton Honors hotels are taking part.

Hyatt (inc Alila, Andaz, Thomson, Unbound Collection, Miraval)

World of Hyatt has a promotion running to 26th May but registration is now closed.

It is a very simple one – you will earn 3,000 bonus World of Hyatt points for every two nights you stay.

There is one catch. Your first stay after registration does not count. This is not ideal if you have a long Hyatt stay coming up and it may encourage you to do a mattress run.

Reward nights DO count. The nights do not need to be consecutive.

None of this matters if you haven’t already registered, of course, because it’s too late now!

As well as Hyatt-branded hotels, it is also valid at participating M life Rewards destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World hotels and Lindblad Expeditions.
