Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

IHG’s ‘Food & Beverage’ rewards are now live globally

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

When IHG One Rewards launched last year, it introduced Milestone Rewards. Starting at 20 nights per calendar year, you unlock your choice of additional bonuses for each 10 nights you stay.

Our overview of IHG Milestone Rewards is here.

One option is a ‘Food & Beverage’ award. You can choose two or five of these at various milestones and each is worth £15 or equivalent.

IHG rolls out milestone rewards food beverage

Until yesterday you could only redeem these in North America. IHG has now fully rolled them out.

‘Food & Beverage’ rewards can now be redeemed globally at 12 IHG brandssee here. They cannot (yet) be used for purchases at markets, pantries, and cupboards at Holiday Inn Express, avid Hotels, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites hotels.

IHG has done a good job of keeping admin to a minimum. To redeem one, you need to go into the ‘Reward Wallet’ section of the IHG app or website BEFORE checking out and apply one or more ‘Food & Beverage’ rewards towards charges which have already posted to your bill. When you do check out, the discount will already have been applied and it shouldn’t slow down your departure.

The only bit of small print to note is that you won’t earn IHG One Rewards points on the value of your saving. If you have a £50 F&B charge which you reduce by £30 by redeeming two of your ‘Food & Beverage’ Milestone Rewards, you will only earn points on the remaining £20.

Because the discount comes off your hotel bill, you can’t use your F&B credits in a hotel bar or restaurant if you are not a registered guest.

You can find out more on the IHG website here.

The buy it now Friday practice was down to 3 available when checking earlier this morning. Considering even GA on the Friday is £150pp this seems an absolute bargain.

    • lumma says:

General admission is an absolute rip off then. Compared to other sports that’s ludicrous

Shows how good value the Marriott one was, with transport included.

      • babyg says:

Marriott with transport was pretty good… I wonder if the Hilton one is supposed to come with a car park, but they haven’t listed ?Transport in/out of Silverstone is always a sh1t show unless you leave early/late, 110k will probably be the cheapest this will ever be based on how other auctions go… shame there isnt much F1 action on a Friday really…

        • Rob says:

There are 25 pairs of tickets – might struggle to shift at 110k to be honest, esp on a Friday.

          • Nick says:

Indeed! I remember when Silverstone was free entry for Friday on a F1 Grand Prix weekend!

  • FFoxSake says:

Well out of my price range, but if you are loaded up with Marriott points this is the one to go for.

  • Julia says:

Good news on IHG’s F&B package going live. Ihg have been very generous with points promotions this year ,thank you, but after renewing diamond and getting lounge access there is not much else to go for.

    • G says:

What do you mean? Those 10,000 bonus points at 100 nights aren’t going to earn themselves!
