New Qantas cashback offer launched with American Express

Qantas has launched a new cashback deal with American Express.

Remember that you will earn Avios and British Airways tier points on Qantas flights if you are planning a trip to Australia, although other options to Oz such as Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines will do the same.

If you are targetted for the offer, it will appear on your account page on the Amex website or app. You need to click ‘Save to Card’ before purchasing.

New Qantas cashback offer launched with American Express

Here is the small print in summary:

  • get £200 cashback when you spend £1,200
  • cumulative spend is OK
  • must book by 10th August
  • travel at any time, in any class
  • flights must depart from London
  • flights must be on Qantas (no Emirates codeshares) with a QF flight number

Flight cashback deals work differently to other Amex cashback deals. Amex receives detailed information from airlines on the exact flight and cabin class booked. It is easy for it to block the cashback if you book a flight which does not have an QF flight number or is on a partner airline.

This is different to most Amex cashback deals when it has no idea what you bought, irrespective of what the small print says.

You can check pricing and options on the Qantas website here.
