Hilton Honors has just launched its new Autumn promotion, Multiply Your Pointswhich is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

  • you will earn double or triple Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 6th September and 31st December
  • that’s it!

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  The bonus will trigger on incidental spend on reward stays too.

What is your return here?

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.

Let’s assume that you are spending $300 (£235) before taxes in a 3x market such as Seattle, and are a Hilton Honors Diamond member.

You would receive:

  • 3,000 base points
  • 6,000 bonus points (for triple base points)
  • 3,000 elite status bonus

…. for a total of 12,000 points earned.

At 0.33p per point, you are getting £40 back. This is a 17% of your pre-tax spending.

Of course, you may not be in a 3x market, you may not have Diamond status and of course you need to adjust for VAT and other local taxes.

Hilton Autumn 2023 promotion

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

  • there is no minimum stay requirement
  • existing bookings still count
  • all Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

Conclusion

These ‘2x’ or ‘3x’ offers work best for people who are doing expensive longer stays. (The other sort of Hilton offer – usually a flat 2,000 bonus points per stay – works best for someone doing short, cheap nights.)

Make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

You can check if you are staying in a ‘3x’ hotel by looking at the list here.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 31st December.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (December 2024)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

You also receive FREE Hilton Honors status for as long as you hold the debit cards – Gold status with the Plus card and Silver status with the basic card. This is a great reason to apply even if you rarely use it.

We reviewed the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card here and the Hilton Honors Debit Card here.

  • Julia says:

I’m disappointed. I was hoping this promotion would be per night not per stay like the current one. Annoyingly we will have to move each day in September to another Hilton if we want to earn enough points for our Dubai stay this year. Oh well….

    • John says:

Err you get the multiplier based on how much you spend, the number of nights makes no difference

      • Julia says:

Says ‘per stay’ so if I stay a week the bonus would be the same as if I stayed just a night surely?

        • Andy says:

If you stay a week you would surely be paying more (and therefore earning more points) than if you stayed for one night?!

          • Julia says:

Lol! Ok I have got it now 🙂

Just making sure everyone’s on their toes this morning !?!

  • Andy says:

“Straightforward” promotion? I thought so too, but apparently not!

  • Katy says:

Does anybody know if this will count on multiple room bookings? The current promotion of 2000 points per stay only applies to first room booked….

    • John says:

Well it’s still one stay no matter how many rooms you book – but the new promo is based on what you spend

  • NFH says:

Neither of the two Hilton hotels in EU capital cities where I’m already booked to stay during the offer period are on the list.

  • Mark says:

Took me longer to see if my hotel was on the list than to actually make the booking. Nice bonus.

  • Tilly says:

Great, just in time for our cash stay Mid-september.

  • Chancer says:

Point of clarification Rob. In the article you said “you will earn double or triple Hilton Honors BASE points for every stay between 6th September and 31st December” – but that is not accurate, on the basis that the bonus points are not themselves base points i.e. the bonus points are non-qualifying.

You got me all excited, because my future lifetime diamond qualification will most likely be on the basis of points rather than nights, but then I saw the fineprint after registration, and the promotion – whilst worthwhile – is much less exciting.

I’m still grateful to you for highlighting the promotion though.

    • John says:

Yeah I think they really just want you to spend USD 200k for lifetime diamond so they won’t ever give out a multiple of base points

      • Chancer says:

You’ve got that right. Cheeky sods aren’t they? It’s almost as if they’re trying to make a profit, which in today’s world of virtue-led business is verboten. It’s frustrating as a participant certainly, but intellectually I would have less respect for them if they did give out a multiple of base points.

I’m happy to play their game on their terms though, as I hold the ace card from the US which changes the landscape. Every $1k on hotel stays for me is knocking off 24k points from the 2m instead of the standard 10k for diamonds, and every $1k on flights or car hire is also knocking off 7k. (Any other spend is knocking off 3k, but I don’t put much else through on that card.)

Suffice to say if they one day shaft members of the programme I’ll feel a right tit for having invested a significant chunk of my spend this way for a few years!

    • Rob says:

If I write ‘double points’ then people complain because elite bonuses are not doubled and that wording implies they are. So, to shut these people up, we now write ‘double base points’.

      • Chancer says:

There are no doubt more of those people than there are of my type, so I’ll shut up instead. 😀

  • Yuval says:

Do you need to book the stay directly with Hilton to get the bonus or can you book through Amex travel portal? (I’ve got £200 stay credit on my plat card I’d like to use). Thanks
