Qatar Airways is running two Avios-linked promotions this month.
Get a 50% bonus when buying Avios
First up is a 50% to 80% (the amount is targeted) bonus when you buy Avios via Qatar Airways Privilege Club. The Qatar team in London told me that it’s a 50% bonus but I’ve seen reports of 80% on non-UK frequent flyer sites – it may vary by country.

At a 50% bonus, you are paying – at the top end – £4,375 (!) for 375,000 Avios, which is 1.16p each. You can come out ahead at this price but it’s a lot trickier than if you are paying around 1p.
Remember that Finnair is currently letting you buy Avios at 0.83p each, although this deal comes with a little risk and you won’t get your points until early 2024.
You need to have ‘earned’ 1,000 Avios in your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account before you can buy. A transfer (reversible) from BA seems to count. This article explains how to link your British Airways and Qatar Airways accounts.
The offer ends on Monday 11th September.
Get 50% bonus Avios when booking a Business or First Class flight
The second offer is more interesting.

If you book a Business or First Class ticket on Qatar Airways from the UK using promo code SEPTBONUS you will receive 50% bonus Avios and double Qpoints.
The deadline to book is 30th September.
You have a tricky decision here. If you credit your flight to Qatar Airways Privilege Club to earn the 50% Avios bonus, you will earn tier points (Qpoints) in Qatar Airways Privilege Club. You won’t receive British Airways tier points.
On the other hand, if you put a British Airways Executive Club number in your booking, you will earn fewer Avios but you will get valuable BA tier points towards status. It’s up to you.
Flights need to be completed by 31st March.
You can find out more on this page of the Qatar Airways website. Remember that you need to use promo code SEPTBONUS when booking.
