Whilst the launch was, unsurprisingly, muted due to the pandemic, Royal Air Maroc joined the oneworld airline alliance in 2020.

This meant that you can now earn and spend Avios, and earn British Airways Executive Club tier points, on Royal Air Maroc services.

The airline has just announced flights between London Stansted and Casablanca.

Royal Air Maroc launches new UK routes

The existing daily Heathrow and Gatwick services to Casablanca will continue.

Stansted flights will only operate over the summer, launching on 24th June and ending on 12th September.

Services will operate on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

It departs Stansted at 07.25 (10.45 arrival). The return leaves Casablanca at a shocking 03.00, landing at 06.20, so you may prefer coming back to Heathrow or Gatwick. Flights use a Boeing 737.

Avios redemption are now bookable via ba.com.

Business class is not a bargain at 44,000 Avios + £262 return. However, you should get US-style seating with a ‘real’ 2×2 layout and not simply a blocked middle seat.

Economy is 22,000 Avios + £151 return, although its arguably better value taking the ‘most cash’ option of 8,800 Avios + £261.

  • BJ says:

I’d imagine the Royal Air Maroc services rewards might be a bit cheaper booked via Qatar PC so anybody interested should check that and Finnair Pkus too before booking

  • Swiss Jim says:

Or Ryanair direct to & from Rabat with sensible return flight rather than 3:00am. Rabat – Casablanca just over 1 hour.

  • AJA says:

Departing from STN at 07:25 is bad enough let alone the 03:00 flight time to come back to the UK. Is this some sort of slot sitting exercise?

    • G says:

Expense related. Tunisair have rge same sort of times.

Also worth noting RAM fly from Manchester to Casablanca too.

  • meta says:

Flights to Heathrow are on 737Max. At least these are on 737-8, but I’d be worried they swap.

    • BJ says:

I’ve reconciled myself to both giving Ryanair a try again after about 35 years and also the MAX. However, nothing has really changed as my partner will only very reluctantly fly on a 737-8. It’s proving problematic as there are many Ryanair routes I would line to take advantage of from EDI.

      • The Original Nick. says:

I flew down to Alicante yesterday on Ryanair. First time I’ve flown on them for around 8 years I think. Luckily the middle seat wasn’t occupied.

    • Spaghetti Town says:

737 MAX and 737-8 the same aircraft

  • Dev says:

These are truly terrible timings. No idea who the target market is… it connects with North American flights on the outbound only. Both the LHT and LGW ones don’t.

It’s about 1hr20mins from Rabat TK Casablanca airport. If coming to Rabat, just take Air France via CDG or the Ryanair.

  • Lumma says:

The business class pricing is good value when you see how much RAM want for a cash business ticket. July 8 to July 15 is pricing up as over £1500.

Economy, you might as well pay cash unless you need flexibility

  • ADS says:

“Economy is 22,000 Avios + £151 return, although its arguably better value taking the ‘most cash’ option of 8,800 Avios + £261”

this compares to the reward flights on BA’s service to RAK

    185,000 avios + £35 return or
    8,500 avios + £121 return

RAM reward pricing is not competitive
