We don’t cover Travelodge much on Head for Points, but you never know when you might find that it is convenient to stay in one.
The chain is expanding with the acquisition of nine three-star Hotel Campanile sites.
It was also announced that an ibis hotel in Bromsgrove is joining the group.

The Hotel Campanile sites involved are in:
- Birmingham
- Bradford
- Dartford
- Leicester
- Liverpool
- Northampton
- Milton Keynes
- Salford
- Swindon, image above
There are 951 rooms in total.
This is not a simple rebranding. Travelodge has bought the nine sites outright, four as freeholds and five as long leaseholds. Last year, the company bought six Hotel Campanile sites in Spain. Campanile is owned by Chinese group Jin Jiang via Louvre Hotels Group.
This is not the end of Hotel Campanile in the UK. It seems that a handful of sites will remain in cities such as Cardiff and Hull. The broader brand contains over 300 hotels, primarily in Europe.
