Good ‘airport parking and hotel stay’ deals via little-known IHG link

Most people are aware that – if you need airport parking whilst you are on holiday – it is often cheaper to book a nearby hotel which offers a ‘free parking’ package and stay there the night before.  Companies such as Holiday Extras specialise in arranging these.

IHG, the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza group, also has a UK ‘Park, Stay & Go’ offer.  It does not always come up when you search local hotels from the main IHG website.  You can book via this dedicated link.

The offer covers pretty much every major airport – this is not a London-centric deal by any means.

Good 'airport parking and hotel stay' deals

As a test, I looked at Edinburgh Airport.  I was looking for a hotel stay for one night on Friday 18th July 2025 with up to eight days of car parking included.

The Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Airport (website here) was offering this deal.  The prices were:

  • Room-only for 18th July: £217, assuming you are an IHG One Rewards member
  • Room with eight days of parking: £294
  • Room with 15 days of parking: £344

The room-only rate is refundable for a fair comparison, because the parking deals are all refundable.

With the Holiday Inn Express 15 day package, your parking effectively costs you £8.50 per day over and above the standard cost of the hotel.

Some of these packages are also available via the main ihg.com website.  If you are specifically looking for hotels which offer parking packages, however, it is more convenient to check the ‘Park, Stay & Go’ site here.

Check how your car is stored before booking. Some hotels will leave your vehicle in their own car park, whilst others might have a deal with a nearby independent parking company to move your vehicle to their site and return it on the day you fly back.

PS.  It is also worth looking at JustPark and Your Parking Space for sneaky parking options near major airports, often on private drives or nearby office or hotel car parks

£344 is crazy pricing for 15 days. Even a taxi to and from one’s local airport is going to be considerably less than this. I’m guessing it’s to do with school holidays, as the same package in early Feb is coming in at £209.

The Royal Highland Show is on and it’s right by the airport.

OT if anyone is thinking of going, I notice the airport doubletree is still a great bargain on points that weekend, 80k or £1,080, 1.35p per point! The Hampton is pretty much the same.

The Royal Highland Show is in June is it not?

That’s right. Rob’s example of £344 for 15 nights parking commencing on the 20th June, and the RHS is on the 19th-22nd June.

When someone asked about this in the forum recently I had a look and whilst the CP at LHR T4 did offer parking deals the HIX didn’t which is a tad strange because because both are in the same building and the front desk staff interchange between the two!

These rates do show up in the app as well just not on the normal website search.

    RC discount doesn’t apply though.

The hotel/parking website linked to offers a choice of 4, 8 or 15 days parking.

    Why so restrictive?

I’m sure their property management software can calculate any number of days parking, with various computations for length of parking stay discounting etc.

For instance, my forthcoming 2 week Caribbean cruise requires 17 days parking – so immediately I could not be a customer of this hotel chain. It’s bonkers.

Of course, having stated that – I wouldn’t pay their prices anyway.

Nothing wrong with £60 at Premier Inn Bath Road

…… and then plenty of parking options via myparkingspace (choose monthly rates and then cancel the day before your first month starts as you have to give 1 months notice), You basically get low cost parking for up to 1 month (less 1 day).

My 17 nights parking later this month is £85 – and that’s only because I chose the closest to Premier Inn (a 4 min walk) and not the cheapest (£50) available.

Giving people unlimited choice doesn’t work. It has been proven MANY times. Tell people its A, B or C and they pick one. Give them 15 options, or let them pick their own, and they dither and don’t buy.

You’ll see various places on HfP where we deliberately restrict options or effectively tell people what to do, because otherwise they do nothing.

The only reason a business should offer choice is price anchoring, eg if you sell £100 trainers, put a pair on sale at £200 to make the £100 ones look like good value. Doesn’t matter if you don’t sell any of the £200 ones. Same with restaurant wine lists etc.

      • Richard says:

That’s true in general, but clearly not applicable in this case – unless you think people are going to choose the length of their trip based on limited options for parking. I’d say they’re more likely to lose customers who perceive they’re being fleeced for days they don’t need.

Having said that, they may not particularly want people to leave their cars for extended periods, and so the 15-day cut-off part of it isn’t unreasonable.
