@ JDB I thought it was widely accepted that you didn’t need to keep the BAPP in order to use the 241 voucher once it was in your BA account, paying with a Platinum card would work fine. Are you saying that’s not the case?

Much has been written about this and everyone seems to assume that past practice will continue forever. The rules say you can’t cancel and keep the better voucher, Amex has stepped up its warnings on the subject and the new voucher increases the unfairness (in the regulatory and moral sense of the word) on those who pay the fee and there are increasing complaints about the inability to use the voucher. We are also seeing Amex clamping down on other things, so all in all the risks has, in my view increased markedly. Apart from anything else, when the BAPP is the one card in your portfolio with a real USP why give it away for a fraction of the fee while at the same time acting to the detriment of the payers?

Any real life examples of people losing the vouchers from the BAEC after cancelling the BAPP card?

If you want to be the guinea pig for this to happen in one form or another, that’s your choice. Presumably you have noticed/read about quite a few Amex changes in recent months? If you play with fire…
