Great example of never booking connection with little time spare. I am not saying its the case here but it really should be an overnighter.
Disagree. I typically would only have baggage I could easily handle myself. But I think mostly so long as you don’t fret endlessly and have a relaxed attitude, between some Avios and a credit card you can sort most things out. In this example regardless of connection time the failing is in the second flight, not the first. So even if he’d have left a week when he got to LHR for the EDI flight it would have been cancelled.
