Good morning. With the recent offer on BA amex Spend £50 anywhere get £10 back, 3 times – can this be with same retailer all 3 transactions… I’m dangerously close to triggering 2-4-1 voucher which I was delaying until 2024….thanks in advance

I was surprised that a PayPal purchase I made triggered it, but when I read the T&Cs afterwards it didn’t exclude PP as it normal does.

IHG finally joined the party – spend £300, get £70 by 31/12

Terms for this one say “Offer only applies to spend settled in Great British Pound (GBP) on the Card to which the offer is saved.”

Does this mean it has to be a UK IHG hotel? Got a stay coming up in New York which would offset the non-sterling transaction fee if it would work for a USD hotel.

Ignore the bit about GBP, that’s standard wording they always forget to remove – the shopping in France offer even still has that wording in it.

Great, thanks. 24k bonus points and £70 off 3 necessary dtays coming up 🙂

Any past experiences that pre-paid booking trigger this offer if stay in 2024 for both UK and non-UK hotels?

I’d be keen to know too. Looking at a £296 booking (can add breakfast now to make 312) if I won’t get the 70 cashback, I’ll use booking.com and get the points

I checked from a PC and read the T’s & C’s. There is a list of participating hotels. I’d say most of the UK ones + Some Europe – not Australia/US/Asia/Africa though.
Terms refer to checkout spend but I would GUESS that prepaying would work – not sure if/how they validate which hotel it is for. I’m not going to risk this one.

@sm, I would assume it’s ok. However, if you’re worried about inadvertently triggering voucher why not go into 3 different shops or sites and buy 3 gift cards for exactly £50 each. Could be used to delay grocery or petrol spend, use as Christmas gifts you could make one-off payments to mobile or energy accounts if they take amex.

    Thank you! Good plan. 👍

The Amex Dining offer (which presumably expired on 3rd October?) has only just shown up on my Plat card offers tab today! When I saved the offer, thinking it might be a new one, I received an confirmatory email from Amex stating: “Your dining Offer is now ready to serve you over 100 dining partners – enjoy 10% back every time until 3 October 2023.” – not very helpful seeing as it expired nearly a fortnight ago…

Dyson offer for me is spend £300 get 5% back (up to £100). I don’t have the Amex travel offer (yet).

The email is probably a copy and paste hangover from the last campaign – I think this current offer is until 19/11/23

    B&M offer on supplementaries too.

No sign of the Amex travel offer on my cards, so I guess it’s Member Week for selected members only. The Member Week website also has “coming soon” still against all the offers, even though the week starts today – so a really slick operation Amex are running clearly.

They caveat the offer text with ‘eligible cards only’, so I guess much of this is chance like the other every day offers.

Expiry showing correctly as 19 November in my saved offers but the email I got to say I’d registered (again) was a cut and paste of the original with the wrong expiry date. If my members week offers are what arrived this morning then it’s totally unimpressive, a new Dyson or another Bose item we do not need. Might use the B & M with a fiver off for a stock up of xmas chocolates etc for gifts but thats about it!

Little worried I’m going to somehow fall foul of the AMEX offers rules on “payment facilitators” for the IHG offer

Booked an extra night at an Intercontinental which is on the approved hotels, but note that it’s appearing on my statement as “3CPAYMENT*INTERCONTINEN”

No option obviously, I just entered my card details on ihg.com – but we’ll see if I get the “you use your offer” email shortly…

3C is fine, and that part may well drop off when the final charge is titled, and be just on the pending.

Pending payment isn’t showing it, but my last payment to the same hotel posted the same way and then the final transaction did show the 3CPAYMENT* – but either way, reassuring you think it’ll be okay! BA cancelled my original flight up to Scotland so I figured I’d take advantage of the offer by going a day early!

I like the ‘yet’ part of your comment – it’s very optimistic 😀

I have United Airlines spend £700 with cashback of £350 on a few cards

Just tried to use this. Says eligible for flights that must be purchased from: –

    United.com/en-gb/flights

However, it won’t work for non-United flights on Star Alliance. I’m sure you can ordinarily buy any routing on United.com and the t&c’s don’t say only United metal.

Anyone had any luck using on non-United metal? Am I being thick!?

Unlike non-airline Amex offers, Amex sees EXACTLY what you buy when you buy a flight. As you will have seen, your Amex statement shows the airline you booked, the route you are flying and the ticket class. This makes it more likely that Amex is able to block the cashback if you book non-United flights. You might get away with it but there is a way for Amex to catch you out.

If you read it again carefully, it doesn’t say it has to be United metal. As long as you book on United’s UK website, the flights will be marketed by United and therefore will be eligible.
If the flight is not available on their UK website, it’s not eligible. Simple.
