Anybody made a payment and received the cashback but then had to do a refund, did Amex take the PayPal cashback once the refund posted?
Yes they take the Cashback back in a day or two.
Used the offer on PayPal’s own gift cards, got the cash back in less than a week
M&S x2 gift cards, purchased directly on separate cards, 5 days each.
EBay x2 4 days.
Wishcard, nothing.
F&F, nothing.I received used offer emails following the M&S and eBay transactions.
All are 20/100.
Given the length of offer duration to 31/10, I’ll buy M&S gift cards in October to trigger any remaining unpaid offers.
I bought something online, which triggered the credit after a couple of days. However, I am going to return the goods. I take it that the credit will be removed. Does anyone have any idea or experience if the offer will then ‘reset’, to be used again?
I doubt that it will reset, but you will soon see.
Remember that you can use the offer three times on each card.The credit was removed after I returned the goods. I placed another order with the same retailer (M&S). Credit reapplied. This was the spend £100 get £20 back offer.
I have yet to receive one offer used email. These are the retailers that have paid out for me:

The terms of my ‘spend £100, get £20 back’ clearly states ‘one transaction, use once.’ If people then what to spend £100 cumulatively, the best of luck to them.

Triggered second email from Amex of the £15/£70 today on an eBay purchase. Sadly hadn’t seen the 8x nectar points offer before doing so

I like that a call was made to the Amex to discuss with them their moral bankruptcy in the way they have administered the offer 🙂
The number of people who suspect malice when the answer is almost certainly incompetence in this game never ceases to amaze 🙂
The only thing that confuses me, however, is the way the offer is structured.
When you have MULTIPLE payments (eg 3 x £15 for spending 3 x £70) there is a problem if its cumulative. What happens if you spend £210? Would you expect to trigger 3 x £15 cashbacks in one go? Or just one per transaction? Assuming the latter, it wouldn’t be surprising if Amex had set up the IT on this one to be ‘per transaction’.

I made a payment (>£100) with Crew on their website and paid using paypal, AMEX are refusing the credit saying it doesn’t meet the terms of the offer but won’t explain why. They originally said it was because I paid using an app (which isn’t true) and kept mentioning that three other transactions I made earlier in the month (but individually and cumulatively less than £100) were valid but not high enough. It makes no sense as the other three transactions for smaller amounts were made in the exact same way as the one over £100. I don’t want to waste my time over £20 but I feel they’re taking the mick here!

I was told a similar thing. I have the spend £300, get £60 back on the Business Gold card. Spent £795 at GoPro (paid with PayPal of course) but no credit and it’s been nearly 6 weeks now. On chat, they said it wasn’t an eligible retailer – which I said was nonsense because there is no mention of that in the offer terms – but she still didn’t budge. I called up Amex – and they referred the matter to another team to look at. Still not heard anything back though. The offers on my other Amex cards worked fine on spend with eBay, PayPal Gifts, Royal Mail and Manchester Airport Parking.
Does this work with J Lewus giftcards purchased from their own website? I had a look through and also did a search and was surprised not to find any answer to this.

It appears that you can only buy physical gift cards with PayPal; e-cards have to paid for with a card. Physical cards have a delivery charge of £3 for a £70 purchase which reduces the % rebate but it saves going to Sainsbury’s.
I can see no reason why you should not get the statement credit, but the same applies to GiftCard!
