Avios for cathay or JAL

Hi all

I’m looking to book some business reward flight with avios on JAL or Cathay from Tokyo to Hong Kong. We have found some flights on BA but was wondering will it be better to book them on Finnair, Qatar or Iberia?

Does anyone know if there is some arbitrage to be had between the different airlines?

Yes I was searching this exact same route earlier this year. Although I only compared Avios redemption prices between BA and QR’s website.

If you redeem through QR, it is a lot cheaper, but then it only shows you availability for CX, priced at 22000 Avios + around £20.

If you redeem through BA, it shows you availability for both CX and JAL, both priced at around 32000 Avios + £70.

So if you aren’t too fussed about whether you want to go on CX or JAL, then book CX through Qatar’s website.

Might be worth checking Iberia/Finnair’s website as well to see if there’s a difference

Thanks. I will have a look at Qatar when I was looking earlier I don’t think it showed me partner rewards.
