BA Gold member, travelling on AA

If I buy a hand luggage only cash fare on AA domestic , as a BA gold member do you get free checked luggage

Yes. I think you actually get 3 free bags as gold.

Did this last week (with 1 checked bag) and there were no questions asked. Just make sure you provide your BA FF details at time of booking or in MMB after booking.

Yes, and if you book on AA website confirmation email should also have bag information. Flying AA LAX-LAS basic economy next week, and email confirmation says:
Checked Bag: 1st Bag No charge; 2nd Bag No charge. Max dimensions 158cm, Max weight 23kg.
I’m also pretty sure 3rd bag is free.

Yes BA Gold, or indeed Silver, will give you access to all AA lounges, including their Flagship lounges, even when travelling in economy.
