Is there a soft landing from silver to bronze, or I plunge headlong into blue?
Rob has answered this on the separate thread you started.
Looking back through this thread, a month or so ago it was taking 9/10 working days after the return flight to credit the double tier points. Can anyone who has travelled more recently confirm that remains the average?
My ordinary tier points arrived 30th August and the extra ( double ) tier points on 6th Sept.
Thanks @Annie, so that would be 5 working days. Hopefully we will see a similar improvement!
We returned on Friday 8th September (NCL TO LHR to TLV and back, CE/W flights + 9 days car rental). I’ll post when the additional points arrive to provide another data point.
Presuming it’s just BA IT being useless but trying to book a BA Holiday which includes an AA operated connection outbound, and the holidays page won’t offer me the flights, but the flight only page will. Presuming I can get it to wake up, or speak to someone to book it, am I correct thinking will still count as a holiday for double TPs but may not include the AA leg depending on how it’s numbered, but would still collect double on the initial BA operated outbound and the BA return?
Just because a flight is available when booking flight only does not mean it’s also bookable as part of a BA holiday.
This is not an IT issue but a sales issue.
How does this flight actually fit in with the others of the trip?
Is it an immediate connection off another flight or is it an isolated US domestic leg?
LON-SJO return, outbound is LHR_MIA (BA) then 18hours later MIA_SJO (AA), return SJO_LGW (BA). When I first looked it priced then offered to add a car, and repriced as a total, now won’t let me book either as a holiday or as flight then add car…
It could be that the MIA-SJO is outwith the connection time permitted when booking it as a BA holiday.
Adding a car to flights does not automatically turn a booking into a BA holiday earning the double tier points.
I am trying to book BHX-BKK using BA codeshares on Qatar with a first hotel for 3 nights and a second hotel for 2 nights.
Taking the “Customise your trip” option will not work because BHX-BKK is not seen as a valid route when you enter flight criteria.
Taking “Book flights” and then selecting “Flight + hotel”, I can get the flights and the first hotel for 3 nights, and at the end of the booking add the second hotel for the other two nights. However, when I then get to the payment screen with the flights and both hotels in the basket, I have only the option to pay the full amount, not just a deposit. Does this mean I am not booking through BA Holidays and won’t qualify?
(I’ve also tried the Flight+Hotel with Multiple Hotels option, but that keeps switching the return flight back to non-codeshare and economy, and when you try to re-select alternative flights, I get an error that the flight date is not in a valid yyyy-MM-dd format.)

… just to add, when I click on the “Terms and Conditions” link on the shopping basket for the booking, I am taken to https://www.britishairways.com/en-GB/information/legal/package-booking-terms-and-conditions which is the page labelled “British Airways Holidays Booking Terms and Conditions”.
So it would appear to be BA Holidays, but there is no option to pay just the deposit.
I am happy to pay the full balance now, but only if this is a qualifying booking for the double tier points. Any BA experts know whether this will still qualify?
@MKB – When is the trip due to start? It could be it is not giving you the option to pay a deposit because it is in the near future
I’ve had a lot of problems getting BA holidays to price up recently, I think the IT is just really bad! You may just have to call to get this done.

It’s next April.

Indeed. I was having errors, especially the yyyy-MM-dd invalid date one, all over the place.
But I did manage to get the flights (which include six nights at destination) plus the two hotels totalling three nights followed by two nights and a one-night unbooked gap, all correctly priced, in my shopping basket. It’s weird that it then does not give the usual BA Holidays payment options. The worry is that if I make full payment, it will somehow process as though I made a flight-only booking to which I later added hotels.
Calling up is what I may have to do, but that means forgoing about £50 of money back from TCB, so I was hoping the experts on here could reassure me that it will definitely qualify for double tier points, even if I have to put in a restrospective claim for them.
On my holiday booking to Crete (flight plus car hire) for 7 days – in the manage my booking section it says 40 tier points for the trip – tier point calculator LGW to HER is 40 points -am I right in assuming the manage my booking doesn’t include the double tier points as these are awarded afterwards or does the booking show the double? In peoples experience? Thanks
Does the double tier point offer apply to single (one-way) flights, provided the hotel stay is a minimum of 5 nights? I can’t see in the Ts&Cs that a one-way flight is not a “qualifying booking,” but it says that the bonus points will be awarded within 14 days if the return flight.

Correct, the MMB only shows standard tier points. These will be awarded within 14 days after return to UK separately.
@joepatr, have you tried this as a dummy booking? I’ve never been able to book a BA holiday with a single flight, and I have tried a couple of times as I like to mix and match airlines on occasion. Could be the flaky IT though!

I can’t get it from the BA holidays website, but from the main BA website it would then take me to BA Holidays to book a package.
Yes, but every time I’ve tried to do this I’ve had an error message saying that the routing isn’t available. Let us know if you manage to book!

I booked a straightforward BA return on Sunday, Flight + Car, for travel in July next year, and it wasn’t offering a deposit. Customer service details at the bottom of the confirmation email are for BA Holidays, so I hope that mine is eligible!
That can be an IT issue. I’ve previously started a booking and been asked for full payment, then tried on a different device and got the option of paying a deposit. It’s that flaky!
Does this qualify as a Dougie points holiday:
Rtn flight + 5 nights as follows:
1 hotel night in UK (airport)
3 nights in overseas hotel

1 night in UK (airport)Hotel must be minimum 5 nights within flight dates per T&C copied below so if your UK hotels are nights before/after flights then no, I don’t think it will
The hotel/car element of the package must be for a minimum of five nights within the flight travel dates for travel before 31 December 2024.
Rob highlighted this in the article – hotel and car hire have to fall between the first and last flight.
Presumably it would count if you took a domestic connection the night before your main flight and stayed in an airport hotel, as the domestic leg would be the first flight of the itinerary?
