Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA Holidays double tier points offer – MASTER THREAD

  • Ibblybibbly 31 posts

Apologies if this has already been asked, but any help would be appreciated…….

If I book BA Holiday comprising CE flights for 4 people and 1 car, all on one booking, does everybody on the booking qualify for double TP.

    Thanks All.

The the T&C specifies ‘origin’ in UK – does that imply I can still get ‘double tier points’ for a trip that ends somewhere that is non-UK say LHR-BOM-DEL-DUB

I’d also like to know the answer to this, albeit with a slight deviation; as an example we have LHR-HEL-JFK-LAX-JFK-LHR-OSL. In the T&Cs they refer to the double tier points being applied after the returning flight to to the UK, but nowhere that I can see does it actually state the booking must finish in the UK. Has anyone tried this sort of thing on here?

My guess is you may not get double TPs for LHR-OSL.

I’d take that as a positive result overall…

Apologies if this has already been asked. Looking at booking BA holiday to Dubai. The cheaper flights I am seeing are from London to Abu Dhabi via Doha. The London to Doha is a BA flight/code share. The Doha to Abu Dhabi is a Qatar code.
The agent I spoke with this afternoon said I would get double tier points for the London to Doha leg only. The agent I spoke with this evening said the whole holiday would not qualify because of the Doha to Abu Dhabi leg. Now I am not sure what is correct. Does anyone know

Adding car to flight at time of booking versus BA holiday landing page/journey”

Appreciate that this may have been asked many times. However, a google search doesn’t show me the post I think I saw (perhaps I hallucinated it).

    site:headforpoints.com inurl:forums intext:automatically holidays

Will a car added to the booking at the time of booking via the normal BA search for flight journey on the website still make one eligible for the double tier points offer?

BA holidays ts and cs says:

The booking must be for a British Airways Holidays Flights + Hotel or Flights + Car or Flights + Hotel + Car package booking originating in the UK only.

^^^ Suggests that you have to go through the official BA Holidays landing page and website journey.

But a car added to a flight booking, at the time of booking, makes the booking a “holiday”.

I saw someone say the double tier points still get posted, just not automatically – you have to nudge BA.

    Any experience of this, please?

@kelly_b, apologies the report button is right next to the quote button and I accidentally reported your post.

To make it up, I google the Ts and Cs for you:

The booking must contain British Airways flights including codeshares and British Airways marketed and/or operated flights only. Flights not meeting these criteria within the booking won’t be awarded Tier Points. Flights offered as part of a British Airways Holidays package that are provided by other airline partners that do not have a BA flight number will not be eligible. Please note: Flights marketed by British Airways with or without a BA flight number that are operated by Aer Lingus, China Southern or LATAM are not eligible for Tier Points.

The last “holiday” I was on was booked via the standard flight search and the car hire added on.
The double tier points were added to the accounts automatically within 10 days of the return flight

    A tale of two calls

Called BA holiday line and first question was can I have double tier if split hotel I.e 3+4 at different locations..

    “No” came the reply

So called back and was told you can … 🤷🏼‍♂️

If I make a booking for myself, meet a friend at the other side, and he uses his driving license etc and picks the car up with me – is that allowed? Or does the named person on the flight have to be the driver? For BA purposes…

Alternatively, anyone had any luck not using the car recently?

I think he would need to be listec on the initial booking as a second driver and not just rock up with you.

The T&Cs changed recently to say that car / hotel elements had to be ‘used’ and I think the consensus is that you have to not just collect the car but also drive it away and not return it immediately. But since that’s a very recent change it’s possible no one has actually been able to test it.

If my flights fall onto different years, I am thinking of being away about a month, can I count on flights for the outward leg on BAH being credited promptly or is no flight crediting done till after the return from hols?

in my most recent experience, the normal tier points arrived a few days after each flight taken, and the double points were posted around 10 days after the return flight, and back dated to the date of outward travel

Data point. I returned from Tenerife last Wednesday 13th. The normal TPs posted 3 days after each flight and the bonus TP posted dated yesterday 21 Sep. So well under the advertised 14 working days although not good for my OH who was expecting TPs to be dated with the outbound flight which was before 8 Sep which is their TP reset date.

So..it seems they have changed the T&Cs recently > https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/offers/holidays-double-tier-points

    f) implies connecting flights within UK (eg: BHDLHR in BHDLHRDOH) wont be counted??
    e) basically rules out holidays over a month and
    b) non BA codeshares dont count!?

    b) The booking must contain British Airways flights including codeshares and British Airways marketed and/or operated flights only. Flights not meeting these criteria within the booking won’t be awarded Tier Points. Flights offered as part of a British Airways Holidays package that are provided by other airline partners that do not have a BA flight number will not be eligible. e) The total trip length (time between first flight departing the UK and final flight returning to the UK) cannot exceed 30 days.

    f) Bookings can only contain one flight departing the UK, multiple journeys from the UK within one booking will not qualify.

Oh dear – let’s hope the IT hasn’t caught up!

    @fkyingmoo, I don’t know how you’ve come to that conclusion regarding b) and f)

Term b) says codeshares are included. The flights need to have a BA number. This is the same as before.

Term f) says nothing about connecting flights. It says you can have one flight departing the UK per booking. BHD-LHR is not a flight departing the UK. LHR-DOH is. So the itinerary BHD-LHR-DOH contains one flight departing the UK, and qualifies the same as before.

The new term f) would not allow something like LHR-SOF-LHR-ATH-LHR, because it contains two flights departing the UK. Some people have been booking multiple short trips under the umbrella of one BA holidays booking, so it seems BA have acted to put a stop to that. Although multiple domestic hops are not disallowed for the moment.

Ah well. We’ll have to see wat posts next September, still got 3 months to get another trip in if necessary.

    NorthernLass 9,729 posts

This has got me thinking now about adding another 5 nighter. A £3kish MAN-LHR-NYC in F would net me another 1000 TPs which would give me gold for nearly 2 years, followed by a year of Silver, if I’ve got that right? So no need to requalify until Q3 of 2027?!

Data point. Double tier points for recent return to Boston (300 TPs doubled to 600 TPs from WTP out, back First) posted 9 calendar days after the return flight posted so pretty quick!

    Lady London 2,322 posts

@tintin38 just for confirmation did the normal tier points post as on the date of each flight and the total extra tier points from all flights post backdated to the outward flight date?

I’ve just had the bonus points applied and they are dated 8 days after the last flight home.

@ladylondon yes the normal tier points posted 2-3 days after each flight, then the double tier points posted 9 days after the return flight but were backdated to the date of the first outbound flight, hope that makes sense!

    Lady London 2,322 posts

Hum. Some inconsistency there. Thanks to both tintin38 and angelamc11.
