unless I’ve missed something here, what is the actual point of this card?
I’m guessing most of us on here have a credit card, and possibly curve. I’m trying to think what my use case may possibly be.
Unless it can be topped up, without fees, from a credit card.- This reply was modified 54 years, 9 months ago by .
You can’t use it for online transactions… sooooo more or less completely useless.
Seriously?
I mean … even my local independent coffee shop I pay through their app when sitting in the shop (free coffees that way).
Guess it’s a card aimed purely at 7-yr-olds then.
Completely wrong I just used again for an online transaction at Amazon with no problems at all.
Also not sure therefore that this card will facilitate anything @MingtheMerciless or @PaultheDestroyer would be interested in 😂
HMRC could be interesting…

I assume the problem is the retailer the OP has attempted to pay with. I’ve had no issues with the four online txns I’ve attempted with the card since I activated it last week.
In IOM. Can’t get Barclaycard any more or Curve. So I might as well get this for non Amex spend

So….. does anyone know if topping this up with a certain ‘World Elite’ card without any benefits 😉 behind something bendy is triggering it as a cash withdrawal?

It works fine online for me. Card activated yesterday and already used Apple Pay for train tickets and online for Theatre tickets.
It appears you don’t earn Avios on online transactions unless I’ve interpreted it incorrectly.
Can’t use it to pay for Barclaycard statement, or add to curve! ⚠️
MCC – 4829 🙁
How do you find out the MCC?

What underlying card did you use? BC treated it as a cash transaction.

BC V or MC? Older cards may still be V and might work.
I have been charged cash advance fees using VS behind Bendy :/
Just applied, cant wait to go digging for gold as im not all up to speed with the lingo on here (obviously for a good reason).
Can’t be used to top up Che, can’t be used to pay seagulls.

Has anyone tried paying Amex with this?
Toppcat’s comment immediately before yours answers your question.

Ok, well I was hoping Amex might be different to the other vendors mentioned, but I guess it was just wishful thinking.
Got my card today but unless i find a decent way to use it to my advantage then it might not be too useful as have curve, BC avios MC and Amex prime business.
Does anyone know if its easy to cancel when the free period expires?
How long can I have it before registering to use? (might be doing a Amex Gold spend for bonus soon so dont want both of these active at the same time as wont get both bonuses with my spend.
If I use this to withdraw money in a foreign country’s ATM, can I get AVIOS points?
I wouldn’t bother applying now without a sign-up bonus unless you’re off travelling in the next week or so ….
Is there still a sign-up bonus coming?
Got a small corporation tax bill to pay.
Can’t think of any other way to get points, but does it work with HMRC?
(ps I got banned from Revolut and cancelled Curve after the IHG letter)
Just tried to do an online transaction. No code received by email or text, so I can’t authorise the transaction

Same issue on a second website
Going to get cancelled I think
