I am calling on the collective brains again but this seems a simple task on the face of it….
Son (24) and his player 1 want to have 5-7 days away in November with a bit of sunshine.
Mum & Dad (us) are hoping to sort the flights in CE.
They want something nice (they LOVE their food) but doesn’t cost the earth for 5-7 nights with a bit of sunshine and away from the crowds but close enough to be in the thick of it.
Recommends please.
My first thoughts are Canaries and Balearics – where else should we be looking? And specifically what hotels?
I’ve not been but Valencia is always talked about in terms of being great for foodies.
How about Marrakech (or elsewhere in Morocco)? A few days in a riad in the centre and then a few days somewhere else out of town/near the mountains?
If weather is important, Canaries will be the place with guaranteed sunshine out of all these, and would tick all the boxes. Avoid the first week in November as it’s half term for some schools and prices may be silly.
What kind of accommodation would they like, e.g. hotel, apartment? You’re spoilt or choice, especially on Tenerife where there’s everything from the Ritz Carlton to basic self-catering! I quite fancy the Playa del Duque resort for a future (child-free) visit, it’s above a stunning beach and close enough to the action for those still young enough to crave it!
Balearics are lovely but might be quite cool/wet in November and a lot of the night life will have closed down for the season.
I’d also skip the Balearics, as there’s no real plan B if the weather’s dodgy.
Malaga is a great base – nice lively city in itself but also lots of day-trips.
My own fave is Lisbon, but you wouldn’t have the “guaranteed” weather of the Canaries, of course.
Hope they bring you back a nice prezzie!!
I live in Malaga so a little biased however if you’re looking for “guaranteed sunshine” I would have to say you need to look further afield than CE in November.

Indeed it is.

Malaga is a lovely city – we missed the newish Museo de Malaga on our last visit but have got it pencilled in for our trip next Feb.
Canaries are about as far as you can go in CE but weather should be good in November, mid 20s at least. As @Roberto says, beyond that you’re looking at CW which will be a lot pricier.
However – is the new Sharm route operating in November? I think that’s classed as CE, but not sure how much action there is outside the resorts.
We usually have a holiday in the first week in November. Places we’ve been over the last few tears which I’d recommend for decentish weather, good food and enough to do are Algarve, Palma de Mallorca and Paphos.
I agree with other posts that there will be fewer hotels and restaurants open in Menorca and Ibiza after mid Oct, and some of Mallorca’s resort towns will be quiet, but Palma is a beautiful city with great restaurants and bars, lots to see, and it’s a good base for exploring the rest of Mallorca by bus. We went the first week in Nov two years ago and everything is open plus it’s less crowded than in summer. There was a couple of not so great weather days but there is enough to do/places to go (even though it wasn’t our first visit) and we also had some hot days by the pool.
I recommend Lanzarote out of the Canary Islands. The Canaries are a decent length flight for CE too. We like Playa Blanca which has good restaurants and enough to do plus it’s easy to explore the rest of the island. We’ve never been in November but December is warm and less windy. I really dislike Tenerife, though have tried to like it because Mr Birdy rates the surfing. Fuertaventura is just too quiet for us.
Cadiz was recommended to me on this forum – I’d go back! Weather in November isn’t guaranteed, but a decent chance of sun. Food – especially seafood – is great, and has a nice combination of a busy old town/centre with quieter bits (and beaches) nearby. Easy train ride from Seville.
Gets quieter in November and the odd place closes, but no problem finding things to do and places to eat/drink
