We have a flight with Ethiopian coming up and wondered what people think is the best Star Alliance lounge at T2. I read lots of good things about the United lounge but my head keeps saying “United? Really?”
Visit all of them
Before covid I would usually do SQ for food then move to UA.
If gate is in terminal A, usually can’t be bothered to trek to B unless I’m ridiculously early – not worth it unless I have 4 hours, as I become hungry again after the long walk and need to go for round 3 in Lufty
The only good thing I found in AC was it had a high quality colour printer if you need to print some photos or documents or your thesis… Maybe covid has got rid of it though
I sometimes found the AC MLL to be a bit more quiet, being able to get a little bit of privacy towards the far end of the lounge (with tarmac views, too).
The UA may be the best in terms of the bar menu and the food. But it’s a bit more open and communal in style. I also dislike that the USB ports and power outlets were always broken (but my last visit was pre-pandemic).
The SQ SilverKris lounge is….your average SilverKris lounge. That is, usually a decent standard but nothing special.
The LH is the obvious choice when not departing from the satellite. It is a typical LH lounge, LH is relatively uniform across its lounge network. So again, nothing special. Actually, the food is probably the worst among the four lounges. Catering is done by Sodexo, a French multinational company which also caters many prisons across the UK. (In fact, it operates five UK prisons entirely.)

Sodexo can do good food if the lounge operator pays them to. They run the CX lounges in Hong Kong. Yes, the quality declined when Sodexo took over from PP (after all the only reason to change operator was to save money) but it was still *good* by an objective standard.
The food in Lufty is not very imaginative but it forms a perfectly acceptable meal especially if the flight will not offer food.
