Forums Other Destination advice Brazil with teenagers

  • 70 posts

I’m looking to go to Brazil with wife and two teenage kids. 2 weeks, the kids prefer activities to sights and have no interest in museums. I would love to hear suggestions from the Forum. My current thoughts/questions are:

    1. Christmas/New Year, Easter or European summer (still bound by school holidays)?
    2. Thinking some time in/around Rio and maybe Amazon and/or snorkelling somewhere.

    Thanks!

I’d suggest some time in Río then north to Bahia. Surfing, snorkeling, speedboat trips and the most amazing beaches.

We visited Rio last Yr (using 2-4-1) albeit not with our teenagers.

We stayed on Copacabana beach and did the usual touristy stuff.

One thing I’ll recommend for you and teenagers is Marcelo’s bike tour of the Tijuca forest. Aka Rio jungle bike tpurs. https://m.facebook.com/riojunglebike/

Marcelo was brilliant and will tailor the tour totally to you requirements.

He collected us from the beach and drove us into the jungle in his VW camper, From there we cycled all day up to christ the redeemer.

    Have a great trip.

Many years ago we took two teenagers on a 3 week trip.

Several days crossing the Pantanal in 4×4’s, a few days on the Amazon travelling down from Iquitos and last few days in Rio doing the normal tourist stuff.

This sounds fantastic. It’s a massive country and venturing away from the obvious tourist places will pay back in dividends.

+1 for the Pantanal – it was an absolutely incredible experience. We stayed in the Caiman Ecological Lodge, and it was like being on safari, with morning, afternoon and evening game drives. The BBC filmed there as so much of the wildlife, incl the jaguars, ignore the jeeps

I’d also recommend the Iguazu Falls -though will require internal flights and connections
