Wondering if this is even possible.
Am thinking ahead to Summer 2024 flights. However, by the time those become available I will have run out of Companion vouchers. I will likely earn one in Q1 2024.
Is it possible to:
1) book outbound seats when they become available 355 days out
2) book inbound seats when available
3) once I have earned my voucher a few months later, get BA to merge the two bookings, apply the Companion voucher and refund the Avios difference?
Probably a long shot but thought worth asking!
I’m afraid not.
There are varying reports of Avios flights booked 355 days out going back into inventory when cancelled but you’d be taking a real big chance doing that to try and rebook with the voucher!
I guess the solution might be (assuming Avios balance allows, which it should as I would likely be looking at economy) is to secure the seats once available, and then hope that further availability is released later on once I have the voucher. I am looking at BDS which is popular in the summer but not quite as bad as some other destinations people book on here!
