Good morning from The Niu Mill Cologne, the one hotel I had mixed feelings about on the trip. Diamond status recognised, breakfast as the amenity, room upgrade, 5 proper hangars, decent loo roll but NO kettle, Mrs S isn’t happy this morning. Once we worked our head around the public transport system ticketing it was an easy bus ride into the city from the station next door, €7 return each.
As an aside, there was no ATM fee from Postbank across the road.
There was a distinct lack of kettles in Florida last month, @strickers! Happily this was compensated for by free-flowing coffee and tea (even herbal!) in the lobbies of all properties we stayed in or I wouldn’t have been happy either (I can’t be bothered with unfamiliar coffee machines in hotel rooms, plus I’m never sure how often they cleaned).
Anyway, another reminder to check hotel prices occasionally – I’ve just saved £20 on the HIX MAD in July and an astonishing £90 on the CP Retiro in December!

Grr – not on either of ours! Does this mean they’ve all gone? I’m normally really on the ball with these but I was completely floored with jet lag yesterday!
I failed miserably at loading the Portuguese version of the Starbucks App on my iPhone the other day. I have the U.K. Version but that will only work in the U.K. Apparently except for three countries globally, you need the country specific app as there is no compatibility (they must have employed someone from BA IT).
Because I only have a U.K. phone, it won’t let me load the Portuguese version of the App.
So…..if I temporarily load an eSIM next time I’m in Portugal, would that confuse the phone into thinking that I’m in Portugal and can download the App ? Yes – got this offer on both my AMEX cards. Great use for both our Easter holiday and May half term holiday. Feels more like spend £600 get £150 back across both cards so that’s decent 🙂

I think my Plat is broken, I never get the offers everyone else does! Might be time to get a free BAPP as I used to find the non-Plat cards often have the better offers

Wasn’t on BAPP when I checked first thing (had a suspicion this might come this week after the more specific IC offer expired), but checked again half an hour ago and it had appeared. Now to tweak future bookings to fit!

HIX T4 last night – first room the power wouldn’t stay on more than 5 seconds with card in slot, so had to get them to move me.
H30 transfer to T5 this morning – it’s so much easier than trains.
Thanks to @BA_Flyer_IHG_Stayer for the walking route instructions for T4 to HIX/CP – super easy and much quicker than using the overhead enclosed tunnel thing.Sorry just a polite request/ask if the frequent flyer section on the forums could please be expanded a little more now to include other programs other than just BA/VS and other specially given now a lot may be moving to other programs and want to query others like QR/IB/AY?

I am sitting in the lounge at MAD and just tried to change my BA Club number to my Iberia to credit the points there but the Air Maroc website won’t allow me. Is this because I used my BA number on the way out on Monday? I flew BA out and am flying IB home. Cheers

Probably because you may be checked in possibly, can you go to the reception desk where they should be able to change it?
@davestat the way to sort this is is have a separate ggl username for each localization you need. Playstor then plays ball (obvs this is for android). Vpn’s don’t work but the above does – tried and tested.
And good afternoon from the B gateslounge which is obviously too hot but at least not completely rammed.
We secured a couch and table which looked like the prior occupants were animals based upon the debris on table and floor.
A member of staff cleared the table using his hands and the used napkins to sweep down the table leaving us with various residues. I can now see him elsewhere with a bottle of cleaning solution and a cloth but he doesn’t seem intent on coming back.
Would it be rude if I went and asked to borrow it? We are going to be here for 4+ hours so it would be nice to have a clean table!
