Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Compensation for missed connection from one BA flight to another

    Good evening everybody,
A year ago was returning from Lisbon to Jersey, our first flight from Lisbon to London Heathrow was delayed by approximately one hour or so, meaning that we missed our ongoing flight back to Jersey and were put up by British Airways in a hotel at London Heathrow. We flew back the following morning at 7:45 am-overview 12 hours later-is this eligible, for compensation due to over two hours late arrival? And how much and how would I claim for this? Is this a EU261?
Many thanks to everybody for their help,
    Juliet

Why was the flight from Lisbon late?

The reason for that determins if compensation is due or not

If it is the compensation woulld be £ 220 per person.

There is a claim form on the BA website.

The pilot would have made an announcement at the start of the flight about why it was delayed – if you remember that it would give you a starting point. Alternatively you could just put a claim in and see what BA say – if you’ve no idea why it was delayed then you’ll just have to accept what they say.

My advice after my only claim, which was last Christmas:

Fill in the form. Keep things very simple:

I was on BA XXXX Lisbon to LHR on DD/MM/YYYY. It was delayed, so I missed my connection on BA xxxx to Jersey and had to stay in London overnight. I was rebooked on BA xxxx and arrived in Jersey at XX.XX hours on DD/MM/YYY, XX hours after my original scheduled arrival time.

I found the form very difficult to follow, now that I had different flight numbers than booked!

So I just did my best and put the above in the comment part. Paid in full within two weeks.

I suspect BA are now using AI to scan forms, so if simple then they get through “on the nod”. With connections, the AI may not even be looking at the delay “code” – just looking at how late you arrived at the final destination.
