I read Rhys article before asking for clarificarion here.

Upon arrival in LHR, albeit delay, I still have enough time (1 hr) to make my connection flight to Oslo. Though. Upon landing my connecting flight was cancelled.

Once spoke to the BA help desk, I was put on to the next available and earliest flight, SK, which I am happy with, arriving 1 hr later than planned.

My understanding is that I’m still open to compensation but because BA states “We’re extremely sorry that your flight has been cancelled. Due to forecasted adverse weather conditions at London Heathrow today, we are required to reduce our schedule.”

I am basically not going to get anything.

I’m not making fuss about this at all as things happen, just want to double check that this is correct.

    Many thanks.

@Vit you wouldn’t be entitled to compensation on two grounds – a) the weather and b) being rerouted to arrive only one hour late.

@JDB thank you for the confirmation. There are other multiple flights taking off and landing at that time but I appreciate BA have to change its schedule operationally due to the approaching weather.

And well, I did manage to try Lufty lounge in T2 instead of CX lounge in T3. 😅

    .

You got everything the regulation was designed to do – get you onto an alternative flight to minimise the delay to you.

That’s the first aim of it. not compensation.

@BAFIHGS yes totally. I gave full BA credit this time where it is due. To be fair, they could have put my onto it’s next flight leaving 4 hours later. But as mentioned above I was happy and not fuss about it but just want to double check that I and BA have done things correctly and collectively.

Not quite the same but see my compensation update on the other thread BA cancelled my (avios) flight that I updated within the last half hour.
