I’m not sure from the T’s&C’s whether ‘holidays’ within UK qualify.
It would be very handy if it did – we’re selling our car in Glasgow soon as car hire rates have come down to the point where it isn’t worth keeping it – we could probably do a few 5 day trips up from London next year with car hire and 160 TP return would be very handy!
Thanks
Yes, fine, did the same to INV for a week which all posted without an issue.
I’d potentially be interested in EDI-NCL!
I’m guessing it would fail under the new rules…
@Froggee, why do you think it would fail? The new Ts and Cs seem to suggest that multiple departures will only be excluded if more than one is ex-UK, and you wouldn’t even be ex-ing the UK.
I have 2 trips booked next year which include multiple domestic sectors, but you probably don’t want to wait that long for me to report back!

I don’t know is the answer other than it seems like it’s trying to benefit from the promotion which the vaguely worded new rules re number of flights departing the UK could potentially catch.
As for reporting back, my tier point year ends 8th August so I’d be looking at nipping silver in the bud in September 2024 to give two years if I’m otherwise tier-pointless.
I think it would be worthwhile based upon likely flying both for seat reservations for the family and I seem to be popping down to London an awful lot.
But you won’t be departing the UK so you’ll be fine.
The rule is only one flight departing the UK to stop people doing multiple in and outs to boost the TPs
Oh, okay. So given that they consider JER as being in the UK, maybe I should be doing EDI-LHR-JER-LHR-AMS-LHR-NCL-LHR-EDI then!
Take a rental car in Newcastle for five days and job’s a good ‘un.
Although it does sound quite tiring…

On that analysis, if you travel on a domestic flight, where are you departing? The terms do not refer to leaving the country. Some support may come from the fact that entirely domestic BAH are allowed which involve two domestic departures, but where there’s a web of return domestic flights ahead of an international one, it’s certainly not within the obvious intention or spirit of the rules and that may matter more than normal since there’s no realistic mechanism for enforcing the letter of the rules or having any potential ambiguity determined in your favour. It’s a bit like HMRC and artificial or contrived transactions.
It might well all be fine and slip through the net but if there is any manual intervention because the points don’t post correctly, or the pax seeks ORC or 261 compensation etc. the TP may not stick.
