Bit of a rant.
Already a privilege club member, last weekend needed to book a car for this coming week. Website wouldn’t recognise my password, reset password didn’t send the reset email, so not working. In the end booked a car without logging in but using my registered email address.
Having immediately emailed customer support, 4 working days later they reply with a password reset link, account all up and running again. Ask them to add my Privilege number to my booking, they can’t do so without repricing the whole booking. Needless to say price has gone up significantly given the short time til booking so I won’t be doing that.
Not sure what cowboy system they’re using, but makes my status with them pretty worthless for this booking. Not sure I’d be inclined to use them again, they manage to keep my booking this time as everywhere else the prices aren’t comparable given the short timescale, any future bookings unlikely to be with them given the statuses I’ve gained from Platinum on Hertz and Avis.
Anyway, rant over. Might be useful to know for others that you can’t retrospectively add your privilege account to a booking.

Tell them at pickup you are a privilege member and it took central CS 4 days to reset access to your account and can they link it instead? They might be really helpful!
I’ve had the opposite: My last Europcar rental was linked to my account but it may as well not have been, as zero status recognition. Won’t use that branch (in France) again!

Thanks EwanG, I’ll do that, was hoping to benefit from the upgrade the status is supposed to offer, so definitely worth a try.

Update: they were able to link my account, but zero status recognition. Supposedly had no cars in a higher category to offer. My guess is they’d assigned a car already and it was too much hassle to assign another. Difficult to tell from the lot which vehicles were theirs so not possible to tell how much truth there was.
Glad they were able to link the account and at least it should help with the rental days for status, although that might be of little help when they relaunch Privilege.
I had no status recognition at that last rental referred above, no cars in a higher category available either, even when raised to the manager, and with many suitable vehicles all outside, was advised all were booked! I did a dummy booking online for the same dates and strangely enough there was availability in the higher class showing!
