Flight cancellation

Can someone please advise.

Flying back from Guernsey to Southampton. Flight was cancelled (tech problems). Booked on the next flight 5 1/2 hours later. This flight was then delayed over an hour. When I look on the airline website they say as they are not part of EU they don’t have to pay any compensation. Is this correct? Anything else I can do?. Thanks
