Gulf Air 24 hour delay on connection

Was hoping for some advice although I’m not sure there is anything I can do.
Booked my Dad a business class flight Man- Bah -Karachi with gulf air with a 6 hour stop over. The man – bah flight has been delayed over 7 hours (due to late incoming aircraft) which means he is now missing the connecting flight. This has lead to a 24 hour delay in Bahrain. They have offered a hotel and obviously he is due uk261 compensation, although not sure how easy gulf air will be to deal with. He is visiting a seriously ill relative so the 24 hour delay is not ideal. The first flight is due to leave in 2.5 hours from
Manchester, and they have refused to re route from there. Is there anything I can do to try to get gulf air to re-route from Bahrain via another carrier. Both EK and QR have indirect flights which will remove the 24 hours in Bahrain
@BLT in the immediate term, there’s little more you can do other than try and persuade Gulf Air to reroute your father and help him play the compassionate card to explain the urgency of his travel. The alternative is to buy replacement tickets and sue, but that’s not recommended at all.
At least they are paying accommodation plus hopefully food but don’t expect them to be too forthcoming about paying any compensation. They might try to claim ‘extraordinary circumstances’ or make up some excuse as to why they are rejecting the claim. They might even shock everyone and pay. Unfortunately however, they, like other ME carriers, are very cavalier about this, safe in the knowledge that if they don’t pay you need to take them to court (they don’t participate in ADR) which most people don’t.

Just to complete this story, my Dad made it there over 24 hours late and Gulf Air were not much help at the time. I did fill in the complaint form on their website and they agreed to pay UK261 compensation without a fight, so atleast he has received his £520.
