    First of all, I’m sure the answers are already on this site somewhere but I am really bad at finding things here and would be very grateful for some advice.

    Was booked on 16.30 Lhr to Bru on Monday. Sat on plane and captain announces that he’s not prepared to fly the plane as something is broken so he’s looking for another plane. After a while a plane was found and they were sending buses. Then nothing. Then that plane not serviceable either so the flight was cancelled. I was then re booked onto the 20.25
    The 20.30 was a little late and eventually arrived at 22.49, scheduled arrival was 22.35
    The 16.30 flight was due to arrive at 18.40
    Was I 4 hours 9 minutes late or would they count the delay only from the second re booked flight?
    Am I entitled to any compensation?
    I did incur extra costs as had to stay in a Brussels hotel rather than continue my journey in Belgium.

    Yes you were 4+ hrs late, tech issue is compensation payable so should be a straight forward claim

    re: the Belgium hotel, from what I’ve read BA are actually quite reasonable about these type of “duty of care” on arrival expenses, so it’s worth putting in a seperate expenses claim for that, along with any meals (no alcohol) you had at Heathrow if you have those receipts

    BA did issue £10 vouchers for food in LHR, so I grabbed a Toblerone and headed back to the lounge 😬

    Yep, it’s relatively slick, and has worked quickly and well the last time I used it (four our delay to Oslo in May) I was paid in a few days too!
