Hotel status benefits on Amex Platinum

Is there an optimal time to sign up for different hotel statuses when holding Amex plat but unsure whether you’ll extend the membership beyond Y1? I don’t have any upcoming stays in any of the chains so no immediate need to sign up but once I do, I want to maximize expiry. Thanks

No benefit to holding off as the statuses don’t run a calendar year from when you activate them.
You may well find yourself pleasantly surprised by how… sticky… some of the statuses are.

No secret they all often last for multiple years

Only one I remember being downgraded was Hilton and Im still a Plat card holder so easy enough to fix.
