Hi,and apologies for the ‘subject’!
Some time back, we were talking about the possibility of being able to use two vouchers for both out and back to the UK.,and if I remember correctly, I think we agreed that this should indeed be possible, but I don’t recall the details.
Having ploughed through numerous threads, I realise of course that I should have made notes etc., I just cannot lay my hands on it.
Would you be able to refresh my memory on this, or point me to our conversation.
I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.@JDB will still be recovering from Halloween. And if you want to summon him, you should really say his name three times.
Was it this thread?
Cheers !…just trying to fathom out how to use two vouchers to get CW, there and back, for wife and self.
As JDB said;
‘The term about origination in the UK applies to the overall trip, not the individual flight. Thus if two people have only one voucher they can elect which leg to upgrade.’Therefore, I’m reasonably sure it may,or must, be possible. Happy to phone BA, but trying to explain it, I’ll probably be given the runaround, and ultimately NO.
@Froggee – thank you for stepping in while I was at fireworks and dinner. Halloween was fairly quiet save for a few cheap jibes from the wife saying she thought she had seen some old girlfriends flying past.
@Mikeact – yes, with two vouchers you can book two people return, but owing to the Barclays voucher requirement for the journey to originate in the UK, you really need it to be on one booking. You shouldn’t be given the runaround as this is relatively straightforward.@Mikeact if you want to book two people on one PNR using two vouchers to upgrade both legs of a return then you should be able to do this online unless it is open jaws or has a domestic connection.
Tried on line but of course not possible. My predicament which I should have highlighted,is one voucher is mine, the other, my wife. First phone call, ‘not possible.’ But I think I’ll call again.
@Mikeact – it might need to be on two bookings as each person using a Barclays voucher needs to book from their own account, but otherwise I can’t see there is any issue.
I have done this a couple of times, in both cases making two separate bookings. If one of you has gold status, BA will link the bookings in their system and allow you to select seats for both people. I’m not sure whether the linking would also mean that you would be kept together in the event of disruption or overbooking, and I’m not sure whether they would do it for any passengers regardless of executive club tier, but I would be interested to find out.
It’s important to note that TCP (To Complete Party) only “links” a booking by adding in a manual note into it and that’s it.
The bookings remain separate and your travel companion doesn’t get the Gold baggage allowance or lounge guesting rights for example.
Seat selection then becomes a manual process. You can’t just start seat hopping around the cabin.
TCP and seat selection is only a Gold benefit.
In IRROPS the rebooking bots see these as two separate bookings (because that’s what they are) and will make determinations on rerouting on that basis.
Thanks…much appreciated. I understand now that both voucher journeys can be ‘joined together.’
However, where I am still struggling is trying to book the return voucher from a BA station outside of the UK. eg
Out with my voucher;
2 people..one way..CW to JFK from LHR Easy to do, but return ?
Back with wife’s voucher. Immediate flag ‘Have to start ex UK.’
I just can’t see an online way, and when I first called, was told ‘you can’t do that.’
But can I ?No you cannot.
You need to make separate return bookings for you and your wife, one voucher per person.
It is frustrating.
An irony is you could book your wife using your voucher and yourself using your voucher.
Thanks, again. Not quite sure what to do…just accept ‘the rules’,and move on. Can’t really think of any other quirk,particularly to get CW long haul back home, apart from a regular Avios redemption.
Having successfully done a couple of MultiCarrier awards, I might look at that option again, but again, not sure if BA would accept the first leg from London using the voucher.Not really sure what the ongoing issue is here. As said several times, you need two separate bookings, each for one person return using their respective vouchers.
While that is less optimal than a single booking most would not consider it a major problem, and is the only way to use two vouchers in separate accounts.
If in your particular circumstances you’ve ruled that out then you can’t use both vouchers or upgrade both ways.

OK then.
In my scenario above, 715976, how would you do it for CW, for both of us, out and back, using both our vouchers ?@Mikeact – I also don’t see what the issue is. You either each need to make the booking online from your respective accounts return trip for each person or call BA.
Jeez…..I cannot believe I am totally losing the plot. I was completely discounting the one person per voucher option. Not a lot else I can say. The last one I had, used as a one way for both of us and I guess that stuck in my mind….poor excuse though. Hopefully, Rob will feel free to delete this embarrassing ‘hoo-ha’ topic.
