After all the excitement about this on chat a couple of days ago thought I’d bite and see what happened.
Especially as my offer was 500 Nectar for 10 portions (x3).Basic info:

Challenge ends 17 September 2024Portion size guide:
https://nectar.com/c/fruit-and-veg-portionsThought I was being smart by buying a single 200g tube of tomato puree for 70p (the exact one shown in the portion guide above), which I expected to earn me 10 credits at a rate of 1 portion per 20g…
Can anyone explain why I only got credited 3 portions for that? Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, worse things happen at sea (or in airports) of course. But I still feel scammed!
Any tips on how best to correct this clear injustice?

Outrageous. Start practising your best arms crossed sad-face and get on the phone to the Daily Star.
I was so offended by the “challenge” I went to Aldi and Tesco instead for the 1st time in nearly a year.
I bought 2 lots of tomato purée (expecting 20 credits) and 150g blueberries but was only credited 8 portions (so 3 per tube of purée). It is irritating but there you go. I need them so no loss to me but it doesn’t incentivise me to buy more from Sainsbury’s.
In fact we went to Tesco for the rest of our veg as they sell the freshest produce locally and cheaper then Sainsbury’s (Aldi and Lidl stuff goes off in 1-3 days).
I have 3 lots of 500 points available every time I purchase 200 portions.
200 portions is a heck of a lot (and a lot of money) for a £2.50 rebate in Nectar, no?
Not if you shop there anyway or if they posted as they should as per the T&C ie 1 portion is 20g of tomato puree.
Ok, but even that’s 4kg of tomato puree. You’d need to be feeding a large family a very healthy diet to reach 200 portions. Still, I commend Nectar for choosing such a worthy product type.
Did my normal weekend shopping on Saturday and already got 80 points. And didn’t buy much stuff.
I’ve seen reports that a single carrot, of whatever weight, counts as one portion and that you can have multiple single carrots in one transaction.
On 7th I purchased 500g of the cheapest sultanas (£1.10), 400g of fresh strawberries and 150g fresh raspberries.
I got 2 x 500 nectar points from 20 portions. According to the portion guide I would get 16 portions from the sultanas alone, so a couple of bags would give 30 portions and 1500 nectar.I completed my normal weekly shop and easily hit the initial challenge. A plus point is that any additional items (portions) purchased automatically roll over to the next challenge.
Just over 100 portions on our first shop since the offer started. Half way to the first reward of 250 points.
Purchased 3kg of bananas, five bags of apples (six in a bag) and three punnets of grapes.
I agree with other posters that this offer could require customers to buy a lot of fruit and veg for very little return. It’s strange how varied the offers sre. My own is collect 150 portions to earn 500NP. 3 times for a maximum of 1500NP. I doubt I will complete 2 of those targets but I’ve signed up anyway as I do buy fruit and veg anyway so I’m just buying what I notmally do and if I hit a target great. If not i’ve earned NP on the shop snyway.
I definitely won’t be buying the quantities of bananas and apples @Toaster is buying. That number of apples would last me at least a month.
As for the failure to award 10 portions for buying a 200g tube of puree OP certainly has a case against Sainsbury’s for misleading customers. Whether it is worth the energy to bother trying to claim the missing points is an issue I will leave to OP. I certainly wouldn’t bother.
My offers are
20 portions get 250 points (twice) and 20 portions for 500 points.
I’m certainly not buying anything out of the ordinary

Definitely not worth making any claim given my crazily low targets. I just bought some carrots, grapes and raisins today and had all 3 challenges marked as complete before I got home. Very easy 1500 Nectar points.
I bet my next challenge targets will be a lot tougher 😀
