Has anyone ever received a retention offer on the business platinum card?
I attempted earlier today on the business platinum and was only offered a downgrade to Gold. I do put a relatively substantial amount through my business Amex cards so it was somewhat disappointing. I only took the plat out in February and got the enhanced 100k welcome bonus, so will try again at renewal.
Same here; Platinum Business card tried on chat as well as phone on 3 different occasions but only got offered downgrade to business Gold! Must be something wrong with me card! use it and put through substantial business expenses through it so dont really want to give it up only want to get a retention bonus!!

Agreed. They really need to look at differentiating the business and personal platinums. A lot of the statement credit offers are pretty worthless (don’t think my accountant will let me use the Co-Op Will writing service and claim it as a legitimate business expense!), and I also have the BA Accelerating Business card which comes with a higher earning rate (albeit Avios not MRs) and ongoing spending bonuses. Given the issues with Priority Pass and that I’ll soon hit BA Silver, it’s certainly something I’ll have to consider

Forgot to mention that got 35000MR for Wife’s personal platinum which has a total spend of few hundred on it for the last few months!
I just got 35k MR on the phone just now. Last retention bonus was a bit over a year ago. Previously I had to fight a bit, explaining why it was bad value, pushing back against a move to Gold. This time it was offered immediately, no questions asked.
I have just received 35000 over Chat – as I had 50000 at the end of august last year I was told this was the maximum they could give me. Happy enough with that

35k retention today, 20k down on my one last year with very similar spend.
Got 50k in the springtime. Annual fee due this month. Said all the experiences london based and recent pp visits have been refused. Another 35k for renewing. On chat.
Had an odd one yesterday, was on chat to cancel my BAPP. After a short chat they referred me to the retentions team who quickly offered 50k MR points and ran through the other benefits and dining credit. I accepted this but mentioned that I was looking to cancel the BAPP, they said no problems, cancelled that and still ended up with the 50k on the Plat.

Assume it was 12 months+ between the 35k and 50k and the most recent 50k?

But if you currently have a Platinum charge card you will keep it unless you switch to the credit card. This was covered off by Rob in this morning’s article.

I accept that, but that’s not what I am asking.
I’m simply trying to ascertain as to what sort of retention offers Plat charge card holders can expect now, given this new credit card version. My gut feel is that they are getting stricter (e.g. by not allowing downgrades to a Gold charge), but I would like more evidence to support my theory. Hope that’s clearer now.

1 x 35k and 3 x 50k amongst 4 of us here. all today. all on chat. the longest card holder got the 35k, go figure
Not Platinum but thought it’d be interesting to some, asked for a retention on a Gold Charge and was offered the outgoing Green charge as a downgrade!
I thought the dining credit and HN credit may make the retentions harder to come by. May make me change my mind, as having switched to BC I was ready to cancel after the summer hols. The Dining credit is a nice to have, not free money as I’d need to go out of my way to use it.
Just had 35k after 50k last august. Once a year for me feels about right. The new credits work well. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Ivy Bath on Thursday.

Had 35k points last December so with the welcome bonus, supp card bonus, TCB, dining and Harvey Nichols credits and occasional cashback offers, the £575 fee is great value.

Depends how long you’ve held the card, if you’ve ever had a retention before and if so when, etc.
EDIT: Sorry realised this page is for plat retention- Just cancelled my BAPP card as going travelling for 12 months, I was offered 10k avios for 3k spend within 3 months. Not going to hit that so still cancelled anyway. Had BAPP for 5 years with no retention offers ever taken previously

How does monthly card payments work?
Do you have to ask for it before the annual fee is taken in full for the next year?
