I am looking at booking a QR reward flight. I have enough avios in my ba family account but not on my QR account. The issue is the avios don’t show up in my QR account because they are family pooled avios. I cannot book the flight through ba despite calling them up but they are available on the Qatar portal. Is there anyway to transfer avios for free or am I going to have to pay the £50 transfer fee twice to get them across?
Thanks
You may need to book those QR flights through BA.
EDIT: can you clarify why BA couldn’t book them for you?
Are these flights not visible on the BA site? are they more than 355 days out?
QR have a ‘family program’ that allows you to pool avios. However if you’re pooling with a partner you have to be married and upload a copy of you marrige certificate. If you want to pool with with either your parents or your kids you need to upload a copy of your or your kid’s birth respectively. It’s a pain and quite invasive, but it may be an option if you want to go down that route.
Someone posted the other day that you can transfer avios through Finnair for €10. I haven’t looked into it, though.
Just to add to my previous post, I think there was a requirement for your account to be 90 days old to do the transfer on Finnair, so that might not work for you. I actually created my Finnair account months ago, so I should be able to if needed.
