Yes, that’s possible:
1. Book your rewards flight, but remove your BAEC number on the personal details page before paying.
2. Go to ba.com but do not login.
3. Select ‘manage my booking’ from the menu and enter the booking reference and the last name.
4. You can now add your RJ status to the booking.
5. You can now select seats.Unfortunately does not allow you to remove the BA number on the page before booking.
Seems only way is to book and then ask BA over chat to remove and add RJ?
Let me try to clarify Step 1: On Page 3 (‘Passenger’) of the booking process, under ‘First Adult’, it asks for ‘Executive Club membership number’, and your BAEC number should be prefilled in there. Remove the number and continue with the process. I believe the number is not stored and then it allows you to add your RJ number in Step 4 above.
Just tried this, page 3 (passenger), the BA number is fixed, no option to remove it. If it’s not a reward booking, then yes it works, I can remove the BA number. But for a reward booking, you can’t as your number is linked to your avios that you are using.
I have another BA reward flight coming up that I’ve managed to add my RJ number to using RAM MMB. Each time I go back to RAM MMB I can see the RJ number attached to the booking, but BA MMB still shows my BA number. This wasn’t the case when I previously used Finnair. Does this mean it won’t work? Do I need to find another way?
You can add RJ number for a cash booking, but not an Avios booking. For Avios, you have to call BA and get them to remove it and add RJ.

Thanks – will give them a call.
The RJ status match is only available to certain countries. Out of interest, how do they ‘verify’ your country if all you are giving is your, say, Hilton Gold number? Do they ask you to upload some evidence later on?

Is this only the case for Avios bookings on BA, rather than QR/AY? I’ve recently used RAM MMB to change my BA number to a RJ number on an Avios booking made on QR’s website flying on JL metal, and that managed to go through without me having to call up

Interesting. This is how it works for me, and I have done it multiple times in the past weeks.
Hi –
2 questions about this.
Does the status match last 12 months from the moment you get approved?
Is it a lot of hassle to apply this status so that I could use it for an upcoming series of flights in September for Avios 2 for 1 trip?
Is the Fast Track benefit for guests respected at all airports when flying a Oneworld airline, or only at Heathrow?

Generally only Heathrow, although YMMV.
When my wife was Gold/Silver and I was a lowly blue most airports would refuse to let me join her in Fast Track if they offered it to status holders.
So I did this, can see I’m now silver, used the Royal Moroccan site to change my Avios number to RJ frequent flyer. I can now see this succesfully in BA.
But how do I know I will definetly be able to check in 7 days before? Or is it just a wait and see?

Hi All,
I flew to Milan and back over the last weekend and used my Gold Sparrow number when booking the ticket couple of weeks ago. This allowed me to select seats in advance at no additional cost.
However, when I checked in for the flight, the Fast Track logo was not showing on my e-boarding pass. But when I inspected the e-ticket by clicking on the “i” within Apple Wallet, it did indicate “RJ/Gold Sparrow.”
Despite this, when I tried to go through the gates at Terminal 5, my entry was denied. After speaking with a security officer, I was eventually allowed through. I had no issues accessing the North Business Lounge, where I wasn’t questioned.
On my return from Milan (MXP), I encountered the same situation. There was no Fast Track sign on my e-boarding pass, and I was denied entry. While discussing this with the security officer, he informed me that BA does not “buy” the Fast Track service from oneworld for RJ.
He even showed me a screen that did not have the option for Fast Track. Is this true? Have we been led to believe that the airline, in this case BA, they will only match certain aspects of the oneworld BA Silver status benefits, but Fast Track isn’t supported? How can this be? Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Lucio
@luciodegodoy – as mentioned on another thread, the OW benefits are not universal as has been suggested. The same pre-reserved seating, extra baggage, fast track don’t apply with every OW airline card on every other OW airline. I don’t think Fast Track is a Sapphire benefit at all.
It’s quite clear what the OW status benefits are.
https://www.oneworld.com/travel-benefits#benefits
Emerald – Fast Track’ or ‘Priority Lane’ access at select airports worldwide
This is NOT mentioned for Sapphire.
For lounges access is listed for both as a benefit.
One of the biggest misapprehensions of the RJ statu match is that you get BA status. You don’t. You get the OW equivalent and only get the OW benefits pertaining to that status.
Airlines are perfectly able to offer addition benefits to their own members but only the OW specified ones apply across the alliance.
Do you need to log into the app for this? Every time I’ve tried it’s just timed out (although I can see my silver jay member card on the website).
Yes download your card to apple wallet from the app is now working
Can anyone help login to the app? I’ve not heard anything in days from RJ themselves, and having same issue as another poster ‘check your connection’ or ‘timeout’. It won’t let me login with my email (which is valid and confirmed).
Login works fine via the website, but on two iPhones – no app!
Would like to get in and get my card into Apple Wallet…Have you tried logging in with your member number rather than your e-mail?

Would like to get in and get my card into Apple Wallet…Thank you! Yes, tried both. Works online in multiple browsers/machines – but not the app. Tried on two iphones and 1 ipad, on several different wifi/mobile connections (trying to rule out device or actual connectivity issues).
I suspect it might be my account somehow. Attempting email login via the app gives the same error as if i used a random non-registered email (but works elsewhere). Strange.I just checked the app (on an iPhone) and I am still logged in. When the RJ status match first started, the login process wasn’t great and lots of people had issues logging in. I’m guessing you’ve tried force closing the app by swiping up and reopening?
Yes – I’ve deleted it and re-installed completely, rebooted the phone(s!).
I have hope RJ will reply to my Support email but they haven’t in several days.
Had a couple of really bizarre experiences with being RJ Gold Sparrow over the past few weeks. I was flying AY economy from SIN – HEL, my RJ number was attached to my AY booking so showed OneWorld Sapphire on the boarding pass. Went to the lounge (think it’s the rubbish Marhaba one) and the guy at the desk said “oh wow. Royal Jordanian elite” – then led me into the Qantas 1st class lounge next door. I obviously didn’t tell him that I’m not Emerald equivalent. So that was fun for 2.5 hours!
And in Hamad Airport, I was flying QR business class from Madrid with my RJ number attached to the booking by the check in agent in Madrid. I was escorted off the aircraft and put on a bus directly to the lower ground lifts to the Al Safwa lounge (I had a connection in First), but I’ve never heard of being transported directly to the lounge. I asked why, and they mentioned the RJ Gold Sparrow, combined with the first connection, flagging on their system as a VIP traveller. Odd.
I have no clue why people are interpreting gold sparrow as higher than the OW equivalent (Sapphire), and these may have been one offs that will never happen again, but it made for a few interesting experiences.
