I thought I understood the changes to the collection year. Following an email I’ve just received from BA, I’m not sure that I do. Any people who are smarter than me, I would appreciate your help.
My collection year currently ends in September. I’m due to make silver at the end of August due to a bad holiday.
I thought I would keep this silver status until next September. Indeed my membership card states expiry in Oct 25.
I thought my period between Oct 25 and March 26 would be shortened and on 1st April 26 I would be the status I achieved during Oct 24 to March 25 plus the TP earned between April -sept 24.
The email I’ve just received from BA suggests that whatever status I earn to Sept 24 will only last until march 25.
My status from April 25 will be based upon what I earned between Oct 24 and march 24 plus recruited TPs from April 24 to sept 24. This status will last to march 26.
I think ive misunderstood. If BA explanation is the correct one, I feel a little short-changed as I’ll only receive 6 months of silver during a period when I only have 2 flights booked. I have more coming between June and sept 25.
Hope this makes sense and help please!
A couple of people have asked this recently, if you have a look back over the BAEC threads there are many helpful answers and links.
Thank you.
I’ve seen one thread where the answer would confirm my initial thinking as correct. But today’s email from BA appears to say something quite different. We’re contacting you with more information on the changes announced to your Tier Point Collection Year, and what this means for you.
This change will move all Executive Members onto the same annual collection period of 1 April to 31 March. When your next collection period begins on 9 September 2024 it will end on 31 March 2025 instead of 8 September 2025.
This is a shorter time for you to collect Tier Points, so we’ll add a Tier Point Adjustment to your account, consisting of any Tier Points earnt from 1 April 2024 to 8 September 2024. This Tier Point Adjustment will be added within 14 days of 8 September 2024 and the Tier status earned will remain until 30 April 2026.
My date is the same as yours!
So are they going to move ALL the TP’s I’ve earn’t since april over into this period so I essentially have another 6 months to earn another 50 tps?
It’s not very clear at all.
My year ended in July and I was Gold. Although my new TP earning period is shortened to end 31 March 2025, my Gold status runs to end August 2025, so still a full 12 months status even if I don’t earn a single TP before 31 March 2025.
Whatever status you have on 8th September 2024 should run to end Oct 2025.
But that’s not how it reads.
It says “so we’ll add a Tier Point Adjustment to your account, consisting of any Tier Points earnt from 1 April 2024 to 8 September 2024. This Tier Point Adjustment will be added within 14 days of 8 September 2024”
So any tier points earnt from April this year will be moved into the shorter period. Or am I reading it incorrecty?

It is worth considering what status you’d like to have on 1st May 2026.@Mark – yes, anything earned since 1 April 2024 to 8 September 2024 will count towards your TP earning period ending 31 March 2025. However, your status as at 8 September 2024 will last until Oct 2025. Then whatever status you have on 31 March 2025 will run to April 2026.

That makes sense. So I can put off my quick CE trip for the extra 50TP’s and just use my RJ Silver for the bronze benefits for now.
