Does one still need to ensure that appropriate £4600 goes through the account monthly after getting the 100k avios?

It was £3300 a month through the account, not £4600.

Mysteriously tho this requirement to avoid the fee has disappeared from the website and literature. Barclays had second thoughts about allowing all and sundry to get to Premier (again)?

I’ll be honest, not even sure what benefits I’m getting from the Premier account, save for being able to turn on Avios Rewards for the additional £12pm.

As per the original terms, I would qualify for free next year, but wonder if they are hoping many who do not qualify, just end up paying the £20pm going forward. Undecided about whether to keep Avios rewards after hitting my 12 monthly payments, as getting 1500 avios for £12pm is decent value, but don’t really need any more UG vouchers (but wouldn’t swap it for just 7k avios as that seems too low).

£50ish worth of Nectar points is better than an upgrade voucher you probably won’t use.

Yeah, I did and didn’t get it. Shame as I shut a perfectly good account for it but never mind.

I joined Barclays Premier and earn significantly less than 75k….just transferred in crossing my fingers they wouldn’t ‘vet’ me and it worked. Never been asked to confirm my income…

You have already received the 25k and the terms don’t say you get another 25k. Also, to get 25k for the switch per the terms you are too late as you have to complete that CASS switch within three months of opening the account.

They seem to blowing hot and cold over whether they require it or not. At one stage it looked like it was going to be dropped and replaced by a fee which kicks in after a year. Now all mention of a fee if you don’t meet a certain threshold is gone.

Can I ask what do you mean you qualify for free next year? I don’t recall any reference to the premium account being free the second year? I might have misunderstood.

I did post a reply but seems to have disappeared. Will try again.

The requirements to qualify for free Premier banking was either a £75k income (which actually was £40k paid in across 12 months), or have £100k invested/saved with Barclays. If you didn’t meet this, you were to be charged £20pm, but they also said that they wouldn’t check your eligibility until you had the account for at least 12 months.

The requirements to qualify for free Premier banking was either £75k salary (which meant at least £40k paid in over 12 months), or at least £100k invested/saved with Barlcays. If you didn’t meet either, you were to be charged £20pm, but they wouldn’t check your eligibility until you had the account for at least 12 months.

    Not quite.

£100k invested or £75k salary were (and still are) the criteria for eligibility at the point of application

£3300 per month or £40k per year paid in were the criteria for avoiding the £20/month fee (waived for 1 year after successful application). It’s this element which has seemingly vanished from public view.

Although quite a few people with existing Barclays accounts have reported being successful in applying to change over to the Premier account despite stating an income of under £75k in the application form.

    Back on topic.

I’ve still not received my 100k Avios.

I applied the day the offer went live.

Social media team keep saying “soon”.

    Any advice?

Player 2 has waited over 4 months plus the extra 2 months / 8 weeks so we contacted Live Chat via the Barclays app today. They stated that there will be a “slight delay” but that we “can be assured” there will be posted soon. We pointed out that they are outside of their Ts&Cs so some clarity on exactly when “soon” is would be appreciated. Still waiting for an answer on that…

In the meantime I contacted Barclays UK Help via DM on Twitter and they have arranged for someone to phone us tomorrow.

Thanks. I’m not getting anywhere with either live chat or Twitter.

When Twitter lot called me it was lots of sorrys and soons and here’s a reference number.

I’ve now lodged a formal complaint. They offered me £75 to go away but only if I closed the complaint before the Avios posted.

So I’ve now got a formal complaint reference as that’s my last hope. Absolutely hopeless customer service

Barclays called as promised. The agent confirmed that the 100k is due to us but said they weren’t expecting such a big response so the team have had trouble processing the Avios deposits. He couldn’t give a timescale and suggested a call or Twitter DM in 2 weeks if not arrived. Luckily for us we managed to scrape together the Avios required for the return leg from SIN and that’s all booked for March next year, so the time pressure is off for getting this bonus….for now

I have also finally received my 100,000. I had to raise a complaint because although I had qualified already, my downgrading (discussed on this forum) to the free card meant that my name dropped off the database that was swept for the credit on the 21st April. The Premier complaint Manager confirmed that these bonus points only get credited once a month (also confirmed that I did qualify and was only due to system error), and so far it has been the 21/04 and 18/05, so if you are still missing it, raise a formal complaint and hope your name is added before the next sweep around mid/end of June.

Received it but only after going into the Branch to correct the linking of the accounts. Even though they appeared on the app together, they were not ‘linked’ due to slight differences in the formatting of my address.
Still not getting the discount for having both accounts though.

I am having a terrible time with Barclays. I had the Barclaycard Avios Plus (taken out June 22) and applied for Premier Banking within the timescales advertised to receive the 100k Avios. Nothing received. 2 complaint letters have yielded the same weasle worded response. Namely that I do not qualify because I took out the Barclaycard Avios in June 2022 which was outside the offer period!

Communicating with Barclays – as others have said – is painful to put it mildly. I even tried pointing them to the HfP article explaining that the offer provided for Barclaycard holders to get the 100K Avios for opening a Premier Bank Account, but nothing – after 7 weeks, yes 7 weeks waiting for a reply from them

Anyone else with a similar experience?
