Starwood Preferred Guest (Sheraton, Westin)

Starwood Preferred Guest is the loyalty scheme for Westin, Sheraton, aloft, Le Meridien and St Regis hotels amongst others.  It merged with Marriott Rewards in August 2018.  You earn points which can be used for free nights or transferred into frequent flyer miles including Avios points.

I published an extensive two-part review of Starwood Preferred Guest which can be found here and here. The latest promotions can be found on our 'Hotel Promos' page.

A few thoughts about the St Regis New York hotel and my $2,800 suite

Marriott Rewards finally launches its new online game

(EDIT:  There is some confusion about how this works.  It appears that you can only win an instant prize ONCE, irrespective of how many days you play.  This makes no sense, as there are 2 million prizes to be won, but this is how it […]

Why transferring hotel points to a friend is good (but airline miles are bad)

Most frequent flyer schemes allow you to pay to transfer miles to a friend.  It is usually a terrible deal.  The price is often only modestly cheaper than buying miles outright but no new miles are being created – you are paying a high fee simply for […]
