Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

TICKETS CANCELLED: BA fare error: First Class to Asia £795, Sydney £1335

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

EDIT:  British Airways has decided not to honour these tickets.  You will see via Manage My Booking that your flight is cancelled.  No-one has yet received an explanatory email from BA and there is no timetable yet for payment refunds.

It seems that someone at British Airways has misfiled some fares out of Germany.

First Class to Kuala Lumpur out of any German airport is pricing at £795 return.  Sydney is £1,335 return – in First.

I am not at my desk so can’t write much.  Go to this Flyertalk thread for details.

I got it to price so it is working.  Whether BA will cancel your ticket or not is a different question ….. they may well do.

I fully expect this fare to be withdrawn within 1 hour.

Mine just cancelled too. MMB says I need to call BA to find what my options are.

  • Warren says:

Mine also just cancelled…oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

  • Adam says:

I know they can decide to honour or cancel. But when they cancel they should at least communicate this in an email.

Just pulling it from MMB is bad form.

  • cheekychappie says:

    Commiserations 🙂

A bit of fun that could easily have resulted in a few tickets honoured if the numbers had been lower – you can’t really blame BA in this instance – it sounds as if the misprice was rather too eagerly exploited.

  • Ben says:

Hey guys a friend who got this deal got his cancelled too but rung up the call centre and they reissued it. They thought it was a ‘technical error’ obviously they weren’t aware why it was in the first place. I suspect she got lucky with the employee who did it but might be worth ringing up and being all confused as to why it’s cancelled you might get lucky too. But who’s to know if it doesn’t get cancelled again next week only time will tell…

  • PE says:

Yesterday (!) my Amex was charged. I wouldn’t even have called them otherwise.
I called the German Hotline an hour ago and she said that since this morning they had to handle calls all day with people who booked that fare! 😉 I guess simply the amount of people who booked + just a few First seats (compared to OSL-USA deal) lead to the cancelation. Would’ve been great but that’s the game! 🙂

  • Barry Stanley says:

Now they have charged my credit card! Why did they do that AFTER they cancelled the booking? And I’ve got foreign currency transaction fees – getting those back will be a miracle. Still no email re cancellation just the “manage my bookings” cancellation.
