£50 UK Novotel rooms at 5.50pm – and how to stack them

The Novotel brand owned by Accor is, apparently, 50 years old this year.

To celebrate, they are launching a huge sale of £50 rooms TODAY ONLY – at 5.50pm, for 50 minutes.

Details are a little sketchy – see this page of the Novotel website for details.

Novotel Canary Wharf

What I have gleaned from elsewhere is that £50 rooms will be available in 34 UK Novotel properties, including London, between 5.50pm and 6.40pm today (Wednesday).

moneysavingexpert says that the stay dates will be 1st July to 28th January 2018.

According to the Daily Mirror, these are the hotels included.  I am not sure if this is just a cut and paste of every UK Novotel or not!

I reviewed the London property at Blackfriars last year.  It is very impressive and even has a decent pool.  The Canary Wharf hotel is brand new – it literally only opened a few weeks ago – and you would get a good result if you stayed there I’m sure.  I might even try to bag it for a review.

How to stack this with two current promotions

There are two deals which will stack with this offer and make your room even cheaper than £50.

  1. Managed to make two bookings, Leeds in Sep and Edinburgh in Nov. Took a lot of patience but got both for £50

  2. Melvin says:

I don’t understand how any one got a room? I checked three or four hotels (via the special link) and none were offered at £50. Yet it said all standard rooms!

    • Susan says:

My first check for Canary Wharf had no standard rooms for date, but were available for next day which I was able to book and confirm.

    • I agree that it was particularly poor wording because there were always going to be black-out dates in place.

  3. Canary Wharf Novotel is worth a visit. Great bar up on the 38th floor.

  4. Very disappointing from Accor. Site was slow but managed to get through and try and book several sites over several dates. I was trying to book 1 room for 2 adults and 2 children. This evidently is not a “standard room” but a “standard room with sofa bed” so outside of the promotion. I frequently use Novotel for the family friendly rooms so it was disappointing that they effectively excluded families from this offer. Bring back Happy Mondays!

  5. What a load of xxxxx

Spent most of the time from right at the start to having the rooms check availability and technical error.

Great PR stunt and once again Joe public is left with a sour taste in his mouth

    • Rashad says:

the website was slow indeed but I have booked few nights on iPhone App no problem

  6. Ali H says:

Thanks for the heads up on this. Got a couple of Friday night stays in July in Blackfriars and Canary Wharf.

The mobile site kept crashing but it was a pretty easy booking experience on the Accorhotels iOS app

  7. Chris Cannon says:

Likewise with many readers. Tried 4 different london hotels. Nothing!

  8. Capecam says:

After a shaky start, and lots of crashes, I managed to get a 3 night weekend at Blackfriars for 50 a night, and a 3 night at the start of January in Paddington. Rooms reverted to £220 a night and £187 after the close out, so pretty chuffed. Thanks for the tip off Rob.£1150 quids worth of rooms for £300

  9. Mark e says:

Managed to make three Saturday night bookings for London in autumn (Blackfriars, Canary Wharf and City South) , website was painfully slow but manged to get them via the accor app.

  10. Congrats to people that managed to get a reservation. I planned on trying for Canary Wharf for one night in December as I have a birthday present at the O2! However, thanks to SIRI, I never managed to check during the 50 minute window … I set a reminder via SIRI and it never alerted me!! Checked it afterwards (when I finally remembered) and it was definitely set for 5.30 today (giving me a 20 minute ‘heads up’). Damn technology!! LOL

  11. I managed to book a room only for the system to say it was ‘Pending’. Over night it came back as not being booked. Seems like a bit of a con to me.

  12. I managed to book a room too and got an email saying it was pending. Like you Mark overnight i got an email saying it was not confirmed. I rang Accor this morning and they could see that it had been cancelled but couldn’t tell me why and the guy said that there had been a lot of calls on this so far this morning but that UK Reservations were not open yet so they would raise a ticket and get back to me. Shocking promotion really….

  13. Eventually managed to get the website to work enough to show me availability at Blackfriars, only for the site to just sit there spinning after I put my card details in and clicked Book, After that, all the availability was gone.

    Not impressed really.

  14. Total rubbish, ended up phoning and put on hold for ages,( this is money making scam) got a answer eventually, told them that 4of us where trying to book online for any dates and except for 1night all not available. Novotel should be ashamed.

  15. Sarah Davies says:

Managed to get a room to wake up to an email saying booking failure to payment, there was nothing wrong with my card so rang them up to be told it was nothing to do with my card but they had over booked and they were sorry! Also that they had received hundreds of calls saying the same thing! What a pile of poo!

  16. Gavin says:

I also got told my Edinburgh booking was cancelled via email this morning.

Just had a further email from the hotel direct stating they will honour my booking if I call up and pay manually. I guess their payment system crashed.

    • Sarah Davies says:

Did you email them about it or did they just contact you?
Well done to you and hope you enjoy your trip x

      • Gavin says:

They emailed me. They will hold the room for a month so plenty of time to decide.

Maybe decision being made on a hotel by hotel basis

  17. I joined Club Accor and downloaded the app as I thought the website would get more traffic. Took a couple of attempts but managed to book a room in Liverpool for December.

  18. I managed to book two nights and got confirmation emails, but neither night is showing up in my bookings on my account. I was logged when I made the bookings, and payment has been taken from my AMEX. Any ideas?

    • Chris says:

Same here, but if you search for the bookings using the booking reference then they can be found.
