Important dates for your diary – offers about to close which you shouldn’t miss

Here is the latest edition of our fortnightly feature which summarises offers that are ending soon. It pulls together the different deals mentioned on our Avios Promos, Hotel Promos, Credit Cards and regular article pages.

  1. Chris123 says:

@ROB can you add a reminder to remind people to cancel their Times travel magazine Direct Debit if they don’t want to have their subscription renewed?? My next direct debit was on the 30th August, saw it last week, and canceled. 🙂

  2. Nick M says:

Does the insurance offer include contents only?

    • JamesB says:

It does but my quote for contents only was almost 3x my renewal quote on a comparable policy so they would have been very expensive avios. However, if you are looking for no thrills insurance without accidental, legal etc you might get a worthwhile quote. The problem though is that you can get those free or heavily discounted at the likes of the Co Op or post office if you are a new customer so it becomes a trade off between those and the avios. I opted for the extra insurance. The agent was quick, efficient, friendy and not pushy IME so nothing to lose in obtaining a quote.

  3. Completely unrelated question, has anyone with an HSBC Premier credit card ever received their £20 uber credit when booking flights?

  4. AMmar says:

Any thoughts on whether Virgin will offer a better bonus on their ISA this year, need to apply soon, latest in August I would think to get the 6 months payments in and avoid crossing into tax year?

  5. Peter says:

Should this be Friday 28th July or Saturday 29th July for the Trsvelex deal? Friday 29th Juky doesn’t exist

  6. James Wagner says:

OT: AMEX Platinum seem to have removed the ability to email them 🙁
Or does anyone know another way ?

Chat now with one of our Customer Care Professionals.
    Chat is not available
Email servicing is no longer available. You can still access your email inbox and sent messages here.

    • Was mentioned on here a week or so ago – sadly they seem to have decided they want to increase their workload and move it all to online chat or telephone. Terrible decision 🙁

  7. James Wagner says:

    OT again: In addition to the Amex related info & request above;

Is there a particular way that I am supposed to refer a friend for a Gold card when I have a Platinum card ?
The online referral system only lets me send him an automated referral for a Platinum card YET the following link implies that I can get points (9k and him an uplift of 2k) if he apples for a Gold card ” using the referral programme”.
Anyone know how we both make sure we qualify for this as it seems a bit undefined as to the process 🙁

“If your friend applies using the referral programme, you may still receive Membership Rewards points in accordance with the table below.” (quote from link below).

    • Genghis says:

Send the referral then your friend clicks on something like ‘view other cards’ at the bottom of the referral email / link
