Hilton Honors has just launched its new Summer promotion which is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 1st May and 9th September.

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  It really couldn’t be simpler.  You will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points, plus any status bonus.

You can register for the offer here.

Hilton Honors double points Summer 2018

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.

Note that the status match website still says that you will be matched to March 2019.  People who have done this recently confirm they are getting matched to March 2020.

Conclusion

‘Double base points’ is a decent offer and you should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next three months.

Whether you move your business to Hilton may depend on your new IHG Accelerate target – see my recent article for details on that.

  • Mike G says:

Just did a quick search on the Hilton app, and it doesn’t appear that either the Doubletree at Centraal nor the Hamptons at Schipol and ArenA are part of the promotion. Maybe the full list isn’t uploaded yet, but definitely something to watch out for before booking.

    • AndyR says:

It doesn’t usually mention these promos when you book though, that’s normal.

    • John says:

Not sure how it could be more clear than “All Hilton Family properties are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China”

  • Delbert says:

OT – thanks for all the help with my self referral query from Amex Nectar to Amex Preferred Rewards Gold. Worked a treat. As was pointed out it was indeed 5000 Nectar bonus points for the referral and 2000 additional MR points once I hit the spending target.

  • Julie Avenell says:

I did the Hilton status match last year and then went back down to gold. Can I do it again?.

    • Gareth says:

I’ve tried to do again but they declined saying it was a one time opportunity- this was last year when I tried a second time.

You can get around it by just opening a separate Hilton account with new email address.

      • Olly says:

My Diamond status expired the end of March but I have platinum with the IHG credit card so I did the status match request (three times before I got it). 8 stays in three months tho keep it from the end of June when my the months are up. Seeing as I’ve got 5 stays already happening so going to keep it. I don’t know if it made a difference but I only just missed out with getting it automatically as we had a lot of stays last year anyway.

        • @mkcol says:

My Honors Diamond likewise expired at end of March & I’ve plummeted to Silver! Your comment reminded me I have IHG Platinum Elite so I may try a match again, although annoyingly my IHG is a replacement account with no transactions after my last account was hacked & frozen, so all activity was in the (now invisible) old account.
          No harm trying my luck.

  • TripRep says:

Slightly O/T, video of the new u/w apartments at the Conrad Rangali. Thinking I’d try one night but would prefer an overeater villa, maybe it’ll be both?

    https://youtu.be/VuzqHBQf7js

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

      Isn’t it $50k/night?

    • TripRep says:

Overeater villa lol, a great Freudian slip.

      Obviously meant an OverWater Villa

      • FlyUpTop says:

We saw The Muraka being built in the distance whilst there recently. It’s a big thing for the Conrad we were told by our host due to the ever increasing competition in the Maldives for luxury accommodation.

  • Matthew Clark says:

    Hilton related.
I was hopeful that the recent Amex £50 off £250 spend would be accumulative as before, but I have now spent £252 over 3 Hilton’s and no credit yet. Any one have different experiences?

    • Sididdly says:

I spent £198 one night and £172 another. £59 posted within a week of second spend.

    • David Dunphy says:

Were the three Hilton spends all at properties included in the offer? You can check the T&C’s in the offer on your Amex account to be sure.

    • Crafty says:

How long have you waited? My first one took a week.

Were any of them in the US? Advance purchases there seem to be billed differently and don’t count.

      • Matt says:

All UK, but less than a week.
Many Amex deals used to ping in seconds, its slower now, I’ll wait and see.
Good to hear that accumulative worked for others.

    • JPV says:

I met the 250 spend over 3 bookings. “You have redeemed your offer” email from amex 2 calendar days after checking out of last booking.

      • Matt says:

Ah these are all advanced I havent stayed at any yet.
Perhaps I need to wait a bit longer then. I was used to Amex deals being super quick, but they seem to have *improved* the system in end of last year.

        • LB says:

Are you staying at the hotel before the cut off date of the offer. I was caught out as I didn’t read the terms…my bad.

      • Alan says:

Interesting – no redeemed offer email for me for this offer, yet I got it for the Qpark one OK. Checked with chat when nothing after a week, they confirmed definitely eligible and a couple of days later it arrived.

    • d4ve says:

Cumulative worked for me but took a week to register.

    • George Kyriakos says:

There is a fine print saying that the credit only works on settling a bill at the property (so prepaid stays won’t qualify). Was that the case with you?

    • RC says:

Annoyingly have a similar issue where Hilton Old Trafford Garden Inn came as a charge to the Trafford Cricket Ground instead. I guess theres not much of a place to complain as its cumulative spend and thats not specified on the t + c s

    • Alan says:

Took over a week to post so may yet arrive…

  • Crafty says:

Hilton are clever with this. We all see “double points” as a good, motivating reason to spend with them… yet double points only brings the earning rate in line with the base rate of Radisson Rewards. Conversely, Radisson is too generous at base level, meaning it has to over-invest to run any worthwhile promotions; and when it doesn’t, we ignore and/or castigate their programme!

If I ran their loyalty scheme I’d be halving the base points and doubling the promotional intensity…

    • FlyUpTop says:

Surely it depends on the amount of nights booked on one booking. If only one night then the 2000 points for us is a lot better return.

    • John says:

Do we? I don’t. I will be spending exactly the same amount of nights at Hiltons during this promo period as I would if it hadn’t existed.

The current Jan-Apr promo has inspired one extra stay, because I already had 4 stays booked and a 5th will earn 12000 extra points.

As Hilton Diamond, I already earn 20 points per USD – I believe 30 with this Hilton promo. But I don’t equate 1 Hilton point to 1 Radisson point in the first place. I feel the Amex rate of 1HH – 1.5RR is right at the low end (and I won’t ever build up enough Radisson points to redeem at high end, as Rob says, they cannot be trusted) so would need 30 RR points per USD to bring it up to the same rate as Hilton basic.

      • Yuff says:

I’ve done 10 mattress runs, using points, this quarter but can’t see this offer inspiring me to do any mattress runs. Each night costs me about 3k points 😉

        • Mr(s) Entitled says:

How do you get a 10,000 point stay (Hampton, lowest in the UK?) down to a net 3,000 point outlay?

  • Craig says:

Hoping to try a status match again next month, consensus on FT is that because it was s straight match and not a stay x times last time it will be approved. If not 2 of the 5 stays I have booked will be moved elsewhere. I just need to plan for 3 more to make up the 8.

  • Jon says:

I registered for the status match challenge a few weeks ago. The email I got (not just the website) says March 2019 – typo, or are they giving some people 2020 and others 2019? Anyone else got 2019?

    • Rob says:

People who complete it are being told status runs to 2020.

Mine, (second one) is only shown as upto 2019 on the email I received.

    • Jon says:

Thanks Rob and Olly. Same situation here. Will see what happens when I complete the challenge – hopefully Rob is correct 🙂
