Exclusive Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam offer for HFP readers

If you are heading to Amsterdam this year, you only have a few days left to book the exclusive bonus points offer that IHG Rewards Club is currently running with us.

Until 31st July Head For Points readers will get 5,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points when booking a stay at the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam for check-in dates between now and 31st December 2018.

Kimpton De Witt is the first European outpost of the very well regarded American chain that IHG acquired a few years ago, famous for its nightly free wine receptions and other quirks.  It is your chance to give it a try before the four UK Kimpton properties open later this year (see our other article today).

The 5,000 points are worth £20 based on our current valuation of 0.4p which makes this a lucrative deal especially for one night stays.

Importantly, this does NOT impact any other promotion.  You will also get your points for the current Accelerate promotion on top of the 5,000 bonus points.

Here is the Kimpton De Witt homepage if you want to take a look at the hotel, but remember that you must book on the Head For Points special offer page here.

For clarity, the bonus points do not count towards elite status.

The special booking link you need is here. Our original article about the promotion is here and Anika’s recent review is here.

Kimpton De witt Amsterdam special offer

And last chance for a discount on UK ‘points and cash’ bookings ….

Speaking of IHG, TODAY (27th) is the last day for IHG’s promotion for ‘points and cash’ reward bookings in the UK and Ireland.

If you book before tonight, IHG Rewards Club members can save 10% on the cash part of a points & cash redemption.

You can redeem as few as 5,000 points with a cash payment on top.  Importantly, the cash option is VERY good value on a ‘pence per point’ basis.  You may even want to use ‘points and cash’ even if you do have enough points in your account, because it is good value and allows you to preserve some points for a future redemption.

Here is some example pricing.  A reward night at the Crowne Plaza in Belfast would usually cost:

25,000 points or

20,000 points plus £37 or

15,000 points plus £60 or

10,000 points plus £82

Even without this special offer, you will see that this is a decent deal.  If you take the 10,000 points option then you are technically ‘buying’ 15,000 points for £82, which is just 0.55p per point.

During this 10% off promotion, it is an even better deal.   You can book the room above for 10,000 points plus £74, a saving of £8.  This means you are “paying” 0.5p per point.

If you cancel a “points and cash” redemption, you do not get the cash refunded.  Instead, the points equivalent of the full redemption is put back into your account.  Going back to our Belfast example, if you book the Crowne Plaza for 10,000 IHG Rewards Club points plus £74, and later cancel, you will receive back 25,000 points and no cash.

The special booking page for this offer is here.  It is good for stays until 30th September.

  1. Remember the Virgin Life Insurance offer from a few weeks back? Got called up today to confirm my data & the numbers, looks like there is no problem with my 1 quid something policy. Curious to see if the miles post.

    • AndyGWP says:

I’ve had a call / voicemail today too (not listened to it yet)… they took the payment out earlier this month though so I assumed everything is fine!

      • Genghis says:

They just want to check if all OK. Also asked if I want the will service. I asked to be removed from all marketing and was told I was already. The guy didn’t seem to grasp the welcome call was marketing in substance.

        • the real harry1 says:

I got my call way back – must be nearly a month ago or at least 3 weeks. Left the telesales guy in no uncertain terms (politely) never to call us again.

Just routine call that they think is ostensibly customer-friendly ie is everything OK? etc – but most of us don’t. Why disturb my peace with a nonsense call (and maybe try to sell me something else?)

        • Haha agreed – same here.

  2. Stoneman says:

OT: Any suggestions for a mid budget (£200 a night) hotel in Tokyo. Have Amex Plat so anywhere that will give me a few perks is preferable.

  3. Mark2 says:

Just got offered although the account was closed months ago.
    Nothing from Nationwide yet.

  4. pablo says:

My last one in early July never tracked. Wasted £300 that could have gone towards an Amex sign up bonus. I contacted Visa offers through their online form but never heard anything back.

  5. Wally1976 says:

I haven’t got this on First Direct or Nationwide – probably because I maxed out both last time paying water bill and Council tax via PayPoint :-).

  6. Richmond says:

It’s a shame I haven’t seen info about Gatwick promo. Booked short stay on Thursday for Friday. Price almost the same as long stay, but discount is a discount 🙂
