How to get free Fast Track security at London Stansted Airport

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

You can now get free Fast Track security at London Stansted.

Yesterday I wrote about how you can get free Fast Track security passes for Manchester Airport by doing a ‘click and collect’ purchase for the duty free shop.

As Fast Track costs £10 for two, and you only needed to spend £10 at Duty Free, this was clearly a good deal.  So good, in fact, that immediately after our emails went out yesterday they changed the rules.  You now need to pre-order £20 of duty free.

In turns out London Stansted is running an identical offer.  (The two airports share the same owner so it is not totally surprising.)

Via this link, you can get codes for two free Fast Track security passes at Stansted by pre-ordering £20 of duty free items.

Remember that “If the Click & Collect order is not collected, the customer will be contacted and billed for the full cost of the Security FastTrack Pass.”

OT: My first year of Ambassador is about to finish, I remember reading on here that there is a way to keep your current IHG status when you renew, I am currently Spire but will definitely not retain that this year. Is there any special link or web page you need to use to maintain the status ?

    Thanks

    DtB

    • Pangolin says:

From recent posts I’ve read on FlyerTalk, you won’t be able to retain Spire any more by extending AMB. But quite a few people have said that they get/retain Platinum membership.

      • Down the Back says:

        Thanks Pangolin,

      • Pid says:

I have seen that but my spire status states expiration dec 2019 despite not qualifying yet this year. This will be due to extending my amb in Feb like I have down for the last few years. Looks like I will probably requalify again this year anyway though.

OT Amex Travel offer back on my Gold Card £50 off £200 spend but tight restriction of redeem by 15/11

  • D says:

O/T: I recently upgraded from Amex Gold charge to Amex Platinum, hoping to obtain the 20K points for upgrading. However after hitting the spend the points were not added. Called Amex and was told this was a targeted promotion, and if I wasn’t contacted by them then it was not valid. Has anyone gone through this recently?

    • Anna says:

I did it in June with the link posted by someone on here and got the bonus. Did you get a screenshot of the offer on the page you applied from?

      • D says:

Not sure if I have screenshot, but I told the rep the exact url I applied from, and she still said it wasn’t valid if I obtained the link from a blog/forum, only if directly targeted.

        • Anna says:

IMO you shouldn’t have been able to complete the application if they weren’t going to honour the offer, they should have notified you that they weren’t eligible. However I don’t know whether financial or advertising regulations would cover this.

        • Mark2 says:

They would know from the Gold card number that you have to enter as part of the application.

        • Mark2 says:

It could be terminated at that point, which would be messy.

        • D says:

Tried the argument of “there are no T&Cs listed that specify this is targeted”, but it didn’t work. Will try again with another rep and report back.

    • New Card says:

They’ve said this a few times but the fact is that there’s nothing in the terms to state it’s a targeted promotion and the link is discoverable through Google. Kick up enough of a fuss and someone with authority to deal should credit the points.

  • Andrew Andrews says:

It should be mentioned, since Ryanair offers fast track security for £4 sometimes via their app that I’ve taken them up on this twice (before early flights where I’ve been delayed getting in and really need to save the time) and both times I’ve gone through fast track I’ve ended up switching to a non fast track queue – because they were significantly faster.

O/T – Using a BA 241 to MIA and back from NYC. Cant find a way to price it up online. But doing 2 singles the tax/fees seem way too high. Will I have to call up to book it to get “normal” fees ?

The £15 off £25 @Amazon is working for a second time – thanks Peter K for the tip. Deadline has been extended to end October. I have used it 5 times this morning on different family a/cs, 1 more to go – all used the promotion once already.

I deleted all existing cards on my Payments page then put back my latest Gold and Plat cards. Worked automatically with 4 a/cs but I had to enrol the Gold card for the 5th a/c.

Awesome, seems to work for me again too.

    • Peter K says:

      You’re welcome. Glad I could help 🙂

    • Tom Cook says:

Thanks, just used it fine – redeemed 2 MR points as the lowest possible which worked fine!

      • Shoestring says:

        I burned 10 MR points this morning to save 5x £15 = £75

I just got number 6x £15 off £25 today to work on my wife’s a/c, they were asking for card details as security for login (little used a/c) and she had it in her purse.

So that’s 6x £15 off last time round and 6x £15 off today, second bite at the cherry.

O/T. First time parking at heathrow in a couple of weeks as have always gotten the tube previously, what are peoples experience with drivefly? Getting short stay drop off pricing not much more than doing self parking so tempted but wondered what experience others had had? Thanks

    • Craig says:

Depends on the terminal, I’ve used Purple Parking at T3 then caught the local bus. I’ve also used the T5 Hilton booked via the NCP page which includes Hoppa tickets which are picked up from hotel reception, no stay required.

    • Shoestring says:

Drivefly are very good/ professional. They are not a ‘dump your car in a field’ operation. Use the M S E airport parking links to get Drivefly cheapest rates. If you go through (say) MSE—>Looking4Parking to book your Drivefly parking, you’ll need to phone DF to give them your terminal. When your plane lands, just phone them immediately even though you need to negotiate Security and possible Baggage Reclaim, they take 20 mins to get your car back, more at busier times. (They say: wait until you have your luggage – which is rubbish, it’s not even 10 mins to get from Baggage Reclaim to the car park where your car will be ready for you – or you’ll be twiddling your thimbs for 15 mins).

O/T Hilton: My wife and daughter are off to London this weekend and staying in a Hilton as a named guest on my Hilton account.
I was thinking about spending the night at a hotel nearby home with my son on the same night to take advantage of the pool etc. while they are away; it happens to be a Hilton too.
Anyone know if there would be an issue with the same Hilton account being used at 2 different hotels in 2 locations by both of us on the same night?
    Thanks.
