    Rob,

Do you know via tour contacts if you can pay to upgrade your food on VS, flying PE later this year, would be interested in getting a UC selection of food…

    TIA.

  • BlueHorizonuk says:

Cryptic email arrived from Virgin Atlantic about something they are calling Cloud 9:

We’re taking you closer to the magic of flying with Virgin Atlantic. Look out for something new and fabulous in your inbox very soon.

    • Rob says:

I’ve not heard anything or been invited to anything and we’ve got no ads booked.

    • James says:

Probably completey unrelated, but I recently flew Ethiopian Airlines economy, and noticed they called their ‘combined business and first class” Cloud Nine.

  • Paul says:

Sounds like bad news for food in the VS Clubhouse and UC – hopefully when more details come out it will be better than whats been released so far…

  • Nadia says:

OT: Email from British airways offering a “Gift box” with enhanced redemption rate for part pay with avios, looks pretty decent (2p/point) incase anyone may have missed this in their inbox:

To say thank you for being a Member of the Executive Club, here’s a Gift Box for you to open.

You may already know that your Avios can reduce the price of British Airways flights, with Avios part payment. Well, for this weekend, your Avios will be worth even more than usual.

Exchange just 5000 Avios for £100 off any long haul return flight in World Traveller (economy), with Avios part payment on any flights up to 9 October 2019.

What’s more, you can enjoy the £100 saving per person on your booking (up to nine people). Meaning a family of four can save £400 on return flights with 20,000 Avios. If there is more than one person on your booking, you will need to have 5000 Avios per person to take advantage of this offer.

    • Shoestring says:

You missed out the 50% extra on buying Avios this weekend

We didn’t want you to miss out, so this weekend, when you purchase Avios, we’ll give you an extra 50% Avios; making it easier for you to top up your balance and take advantage of this offer.

    • lady Lndon says:

Strangely I could use this since I’m actually contemplating booking a British Airways flight! Yup that’s pretty rare these days.

I hope to receive the email. Wonder if it’s worth checking part pay with Avios just in case it’s not targeted?

      • Rob says:

It is NOT targeted – everyone will get the email but it takes 8 hours to do them all!

  • tical says:

OT: Is it possible to book Eurostar on AmEx Travel so as to take advantage of the 200 off 600 spend?

    • Alex says:

Is it confirmed that cumulative spend is ok for this offer btw?

      • tical says:

Yes, I saw someone confirming cumulative spend is ok in this forum

      • Matt says:

Tical why not just go on Amex Travel site and try and book Eurostar tickets?

      • MarkH says:

Yes it is currently my cumulative spend although I did it all on the same day so no idea if that makes any difference

  • Octopus says:

OT noticed that Lloyd’s issued Amex will be excluded from the shop small offer this year

    • Mark2 says:

That’s a shame since we have four cards between us.
Where did you find that please?

      • Octopus says:

It was under one of the terms and conditions in the email from Amex promoting the shop small offer

‘Offer excludes Lloyds Bank, Corporate and Pre-Paid Cards.’

  • r* says:

Does anyone know if the £50 off Hilton thats on Amex atm is actually restricted to specific hotels? It looks like there are only european hotels listed on there, so would using it for US or Asia likely not trigger the £50?

    • Voltron says:

Click on the AMEX T&C, it has a pdf list of all hotels included

    • Alex says:

Also. does ‘Offer excludes online payments and is only valid on checkout spend’ mean that Hilton ‘ADVANCE PURCHASE’ rates will not qualify?

      Thanks.

      • Rob says:

In theory you should be OK, although I will tell you next week as I have just hit the target on the old version via a prepaid.

  • Tracy says:

O/T has anyone booked an amex travel ba flight mixed cabin? Eg. economy out and premium economy return? Can’t seem to do it online, wondering if its worthwhile calling?
